TAKE A TRIP TO ATHENS WITH THE DIOR CRUISE 2022 SHOW (V Magazine)

With the country of Greece as its muse, the Dior Cruise 2022 show took place at the Panathenaic Stadium in Athens on Thursday. Models took the runway - the track around the historic stadium - in ethereal, Greek inspired pieces. The iconic stadium was illuminated only by the orange glow of fires lined up in the center of the stadium, reminiscent of the Olympic flame. Strobe lights flashed on, illuminating the scene in a heavenly white glow. Then, the sounds of the string orchestra and echoing voices filled up the nearly empty venue, as models began their single-filed walk around the track. The Greek Goddess themed looks included toga-inspired dresses, gold accents and neutral colors. Modernized, however, by gold accented running shoes. Images...

GO GLOBAL WITH MAISON MARGIELA: JAPAN (NYLON)

Maison Margiela joins forces with American sportswear brand Reebok for a sneaker collaboration you never thought you needed. Using the concept of decortiqué that is so integral to the luxury haute couture’s brand identity, Maison Margiela reinterprets Reebok’s 1985 Classic Leather runner into the Classic Leather Tabi High, a new high-top leather trainer. Decortiqué is a technical process pioneered by the French fashion house, whereby a garment is deconstructed to its core structural elements. By employing this technique, Creative Director John Galliano exposes the shoe’s innermost architecture to dig at the brand’s true authenticity. Available in four different color schemes, each iteration of the Classic Leather Tabi High embodies a different personality, yet simultaneously exhibits the innate, adventurous nature of both brands....

Although all-white kicks will forever be a warm-weather staple, it’s time to step out of your footwear comfort zone and try out different sneaker ‘fits. This year alone, Nike has already dropped out-of-this-world designs like the SB Dunk Low ‘What the Paul’ and the SB Dunk High ‘Maui Wowie,’ as...

Meet the Creatives Who Look to the Tabi Boot as Muse (W Magazine)

There is no shoe quite as divisive as the Tabi. Inspired by the shape of a 15th Century Japanese sock and translated into its now well-known form by Martin Margiela for his debut collection in 1988, the hoof-like creation is—love it or hate it—an enduring icon. A shock at first, it has become a staple of the art and fashion worlds, appearing on the feet of creatives and iconoclasts year after year. It has inspired countless imitations, from Prada’s 2012 red split toe booties to Vetements’ controversial FW18 appropriation. But is it art?  The creative director Sidney Prawatyotin, who runs the popular fashion meme Instagram account @siduations, purchased a too-tight women’s version in black before the house started releasing the style in men’s...

Kendall Jenner has only been on vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico for a few days, but she’s already worn her way through an entire season of summer trends. We’re not sure which brand of luggage Jenner prefers, but she’s somehow found space to pack it all. Already during her getaway, she’s worn a few bucket hats; multiple instances of tactile summer knitwear; chunky, colorful jewelry; wide-leg pants; a touch of vintage Jean Paul Gaultier; several barely there bikinis; square sunglasses; and, for good measure, some Birkenstock sandals. Although Jenner just celebrated a pivotal one-year anniversary with her boyfriend, Phoenix Suns player Devin Booker, the vacation is reportedly a girls-only trip. Best friend Hailey Bieber joined Jenner on the getaway, sans her husband Justin Bieber. That leaves more...
