The 22-Year-Old Designer Flipping Thrifted Socks and Cables Into Heels (V Magazine)

huuhh
There’s a changing of the guard in fashion and culture. Gen Z creators are pushing the conversation forward in ways both awe-inspiring and audacious. Our latest project, Youthquake, invites you to discover how these artists, musicians, actors, designers, and models are radically reimagining the future. Blame William Shakespeare. Early in lockdown, it became an adage—then a joke, then a cliché—that since he wrote King Lear during the plague, we could, too, channel our isolation into creative energy. But some people did actually create some life-changing feats of creativity during lockdown, including 22-year-old Tega Akinola. In early 2020, the British designer, then a sports psychology student, headed to her parents’ home in the Midlands to quarantine. Cleaning out her bedroom, she came across a bag...

DIOR EXPERIMENTS WITH STRUCTURE IN NEW HAUTE COUTURE COLLECTION (V Magazine)

www w
Dior’s Spring-Summer 2022 Haute Couture collection draws inspiration from the atelier as an instrument and a place of experimentation. Led by creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri, the series features embroidery beyond embellishment, but rather a form for architecture and medium for innovative structure. A central theme throughout the collection, embroidery is also explored through signature tights, seamlessly melding with a variety of looks. A collaborative work, the collection employs the creativity of Indian artists Madhvi and Manu Parekh, the Chanakya Atelier and the Chanakya School of Craft. Colors remain neutral, with shades of black, white, ivory, and cream, nodding to a contemporary approach to sleek design. Textures are explored, and sheer fabric and draping is utilized to frame the feminine...

7 OUTFIT IDEAS WITH MOON BOOTS, WINTER’S “IT” ACCESSORY (NYLON)

efd
Chunky boots have been on our style radar for quite some time but most recently, we’ve seen the resurgence of the early-aughts Moon Boot making its way into the winter wardrobes of some of our favorite celebrities this year, from Dua Lipa to Normani. The chunky silhouette was first designed in 1969 by the Italian designer Giancarlo Zanatta. During its very beginnings, Moon Boots first became popular following the Apollo 11 moon landing, known to provide insulation and a sturdy grip while in the snow. Over time, the futuristic style evolved into a closet staple piece during the 20th century, especially during the early 2000s with many of the Y2K era’s “It” girls, such as Paris Hilton, who was often spotted in the...

JULIA FOX AND KANYE WEST HAVE REACHED MATCHING-COUPLE-STYLE STATUS (NYLON)

gg
In the celebrity world, there seems to be an unspoken fashion rule that couples should solidify their new relationship status by coordinating outfits. The latest case in point: Julia Fox and Kanye West in Paris. Or, “Juliye” in Paris — recently coined by Fox herself on Instagram Stories. The two have been together since New Year’s Eve, which started as a meet-cute in Miami and turned into a Cindarella-like story of Carbone dinners, photo shoots, hotel rooms filled with designer clothes, and that one time they hung out with Madonna. (Fox will reportedly play the pop star icon’s best friend Debi Mazar in an upcoming biopic.) As with most of Ye’s past relationships, his significant other takes on the role of fashion muse, and Fox is seamlessly playing (and...

MAISON MIHARA YASUHIRO’S AW22 COLLECTION HIGHLIGHTS HIS ORIGINS (V Magazine)

huhh
Maison Mihara Yasuhiro's AW22 collection expresses his heritage through a visual conceptualization. This idea derives from a combination of Yashurio's origins, his fashion industry beginnings, and remembrance of Tokyo in the decade before the 2000s, two aspects that coincided with one another. As part of his inspiration, Yasuhiro categorized this assemblage's designs as 'modified' based on the auxiliary garments he cumulated. Maison Mihara Yasuhiro AW22 collection The collection contains over twenty different pieces ranging from outwear styles like faux fur coats and denim jackets to button-downs and skirts. The pieces' varying color combination is apparent throughout with darker or earth tone hues like tans and mahogany paired with visual animation such as canary yellows, striking sapphires, and hot pinks. Maison Mihara Yasuhiro AW22...

Kendall Jenner Honors the Kardashian-Jenner Family Tradition of Wearing Bikinis in the Snow (W Magazine)

hu
A word of caution if you head over to Kendall Jenner’s Instagram feed: You may be in for some shivers. On Thursday, the 26-year-old model posted a series of photos of herself clad in a simple black string bikini and a pair of knee-high Miu Miu boots covered in fur. As if that outfit wasn’t notable enough, she also happened to be wearing it while romping around in several inches of snow in Aspen, Colorado. (Her explanation: “Wim Hof said ice baths.”) While she’s worn at least four additional outfits in the last two days, Jenner’s latest definitely takes the cake. Her previous Aspen post, featuring a much more traditional wintertime look in the form of a metallic puffer, got more...

In 2022, Even Your Phone Cases Are Wearing Puffers (W Magazine)

JIJ
Do you have a big black puffer jacket, even? What about a puffer vest? Or a puffer bucket hat? Okay, but you probably have puffer boots—more commonly known as Moon Boots—hiding in the back of your closet (yup, those are in again). Puffer jackets have been around for years, but in 2022, everything else in your wardrobe is getting the puffed-up treatment—even phone cases. This recent puffer takeover has been mounting for a while. It can be traced back to early last year, when the fall 2021 runways filled up with takes on quilted pieces. Then, in October, Telfar announced a collaboration with Moose Knuckles that turned the brand’s classic shopping bag into a more voluminous counterpart. As colder weather hit, it suddenly...

How 6 Celebrity Stylists Would Wear Baggy Jeans (VOGUE)

qwq
If the thought of squeezing into a pair of skinny jeans horrifies you, you’re in luck: Big, baggy denim is in this year. Soon after skinnies were deemed cheugy in 2021, a slew of stylish stars and models were spotted in the antithesis of pin-thin denim. Hailey Bieber, for instance, leaned into the grungy look and paired oversized jeans with an equally large bomber jacket and dad hat. Balenciaga also made the silhouette its signature (its spring 2022 collection saw them styled with moto jackets and turtlenecks, for one). If straight-leg jeans are more your vibe, slipping into a more voluminous silhouette can be a somewhat scary idea. You go too baggy and you suddenly look like you’re rocking parachute pants. But fear not. Below,...

MEGAN FOX CO-SIGNS THE MICRO-MINI CARDIGAN FOR WINTER (NYLON)

uh
Following the engagement of our favorite pop-punk duo Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly, the happy couple have been enjoying their relationship milestone in Italy and, as expected from the trendsetter herself, Fox wore a daring (but very cozy) winter look. During their trip to Lake Como, the Jennifer’s Body star took to Instagram on Thursday, Jan. 20, and posted a few photos with her now-fiancé MGK in the latest addition to their matching couple outfits. The duo’s vacation #OOTD included Fox in a neutral monochrome look, dressed by none other than her go-to stylist Maeve Reilly. She paired a vibrant leopard printed coat and matching ‘90s-inspired fuzzy bucket hat from Stand Studio, along with wide-leg pants by GCDS. She accessorized the rest of her vacation...
