Screen Shot 2020-07-27 at 9.09.36 AM
By now we’re familiar with Nicki Minaj’s outré take on fashion. From her music videos to her appearances in the front row, the hip hop legend dresses fearlessly and with camp flair. Naturally, when it’s time for Minaj to make an announcement she does so with panache, and this morning she dropped a bombshell on the internet with the announcement of her pregnancy. The star took to Instagram to share a glamorous photo of her bump and the news that she and husband, Kenneth Petty, were expecting. Minaj put the focus on the imagery by simply captioning her Instagram update #preggers. Shot by photographer Alex Loucas while clad in a patchwork Swarovski crystal detailed bikini by Lacey Dalimonte, marabou tipped platform...

Kaia Gerber and Cara Delevingne Attend a Black Lives Matter Protest Together (VOGUE)

unnamed-1-2
Armed with millions of followers, many top models today are often harnessing their platform for good and to spread resources and information that touch on more pressing global issues. (Alongside photos of them modeling, of course). Kaia Gerber and Cara Delevingne took their activism offline yesterday and attended a Black Lives Matter protest in Los Angeles together. The two friends attended a Black Lives Matter protest outside of the Hall of Justice in Los Angeles, California. The gathering saw protestors unite to condemn Los Angeles County’s unwillingness to prosecute police brutality. Delevingne and Gerber were seen sharing an embrace in the crowd. Later on, they met up with friend and actor Margaret Qualley, who was also at the protest. Delevingne has been vocal about the BLM movement on...

Jennifer Lopez On How She’s Quarantining, Her New Shoe Line, And Working From Home (ELLE)

gettyimages-1173036772
The shoe must go on. Jennifer Lopez was meant to be in her hometown of New York City today, where she was going to launch her new (and very good) footwear collection with DSW. Instead, like many of us, the hottest woman in the world is working from home. In her case, that means calling me from her house in LA, where the sounds of her laughing twins (Emme and Max, 12) echo in the background. "If I sound out of breath, it's not because I'm sick," she vows. "It's because I'm working out!" (Weight training, FYI.) "My [DSW] sneakers have quite a lift in them, actually," she says. "You know the sneakers with the really sick bottoms, like Balenciaga? That's the kind I...

The Capri in Marfa Shares Its Famous Grilled Avocado Guacamole Recipe (VOGUE)

Grilled20Avocado20Guacamole20-20Photograph20by20Douglas20Friedman
The universal recipe for a good guacamole, says Rocky Barnette, is perfectly ripe avocados, a good balance of salt, and lime. But he’ll also let you in on a little secret: the trick to a great guacamole is “a sneaking suspicion of cumin and a healthy drizzle of very fine extra virgin olive oil.” The chef of The Capri, the buzzy Marfa restaurant that’s become a symbol of the West Texas town’s artistic revival, recently released a new cookbook with his wife, Ballroom Marfa founder Virginia Lebermann. Called *Cooking in Marfa: Welcome, We’ve Been Expecting You*, it’s half recipes, half visual homage to the rolling plains and stark desert landscape that envelopes this remote, creative oasis. Their guacamole certainly isn’t the most interesting dish in the cookbook (that title...

It looks like the Kardashian and Jenner beauty empires are about to get even bigger with the help of one Kanye West. TMZ just reported that the designer and music mogul filed a trademark for Yeezy beauty. The trademark covers Yeezy makeup, fake lashes, face masks, nail polishes, body oils, shaving creams, haircare, perfume, toothpaste, and even deodorant. This isn't West's first beauty and cosmetics trademark. Back in 2017, he filed a similar trademark for Donda cosmetics, named after his mother who tragically passed away in 2007. Though it makes sense that he would potentially want to expand his Yeezy brand. Forbes recently announced that West reached billionaire status this year thanks to his sold-out sneakers and fashion partnership with Adidas. We asked West's wife Kim Kardashian...

Everything You Need to Know About New York’s New Travel Quarantine (VOGUE)

GettyImages-1178126376
In a press conference today, Governor Cuomo, along with a Zoom conferenced-in Governor Murphy and Governor Lamont, announced a major decision: starting on June 25, “All individuals traveling from states with significant community spread of COVID into NY, NJ, or CT must quarantine for 14 days.” While visitors from international countries have been banned since March, the three governors are now implementing restrictions on domestic travel. New York isn’t the first state to do this—Maine, for example, also has a mandatory quarantine period for outsiders—but combined with New Jersey and Connecticut, it is the first region. And the most populous one at that: the tri-state area has over 23 million people. Regulating entry will have a tremendous effect on tourist and business...

These Are the Most Beautiful Cities in the World (Harper’s Bazaar)

hbz-travel-index-1576001101
The world is home to some 4,416 cities - from the crumbling grandeur of Rome to the bristling, ultra-modern towers of Shanghai. It includes tiny Adamstown, a microscopic settlement in the Pitcairn Islands with a population of only 48; it includes Venice, a floating city laced by idyllic canals and breathtaking palazzos. And like the people who inhabit them, each has its own distinctive personality, allure, photo-worthy moments, and reasons to pay them a visit. Here, in our humble opinion, are the world’s most beautiful cities. 1) Florence, Italy While Rome may get the credit for being Italy's most historic city, Florence holds the flame for sheer, unadulterated Italian beauty. A walk down any cobblestone street will reveal astonishing piazzas and cathedrals—and the...

Will the Pandemic Permanently Change Our Beauty Routines? (VOGUE)

VO0820_VLife_BeautyRoutines_01
How long does it take to make or break a habit? A decade ago Phillippa Lally, Ph.D.,a researcher at University College London, led a major study showing that people need, on average, 66 days to change their ways. I was reminded of this 60-ish days into my own pandemic-induced seclusion, after fleeing my small apartment in Manhattan to join friends at their home in upstate New York. As the novelty of sheltering in place wore off (I, too, grew sick of baking and binge-watching) and I adapted to my newly rural lifestyle, I became preoccupied with the question of who, exactly, I would be if and when I returned to my “normal” life—and beyond that what, exactly, I’d look like. After...
