Rihanna on Working From Home, Dressing for Zoom, and Savage x Fenty’s Epic New Show (VOGUE)

In case you were wondering, Rihanna has been doing just fine during lockdown. At times it feels like the beauty mogul, fashion designer, multiplatinum musician, and occasional actress has done everything a person can do, but 2020 allowed her to tackle a new challenge: relaxation. “What I’ve appreciated most is having a still spirit,” she shared over Zoom from Los Angeles. On set into the wee hours doing promos, Rihanna still manages to look Fenty fresh in a black belted leather jacket and lacy bra top. The vibe is glam-goth and arguably the chicest thing to ever grace Zoom. Though she’s clearly mastered above-the-waist dressing, she’d rather discuss the advantages this year’s reset has provided: “Just quieting my spirit and listening to what God and the...

Justin and Hailey Bieber Take Date Night Style to the Next Level (VOGUE)

https://www.instagram.com/p/CF6AVYLHODD/ Justin and Hailey Bieber are the masters of couple style. The husband-wife duo rarely step out together without perfectly-coordinated outfits. Their fashion is always in sync, whether they’re on a red carpet or on the streets, usually thanks to a heavy rotation of designer streetwear pieces. For example, just last month they did his-and-hers high-fashion hoodies. This weekend, the pair channeled their doubled-up fashion energy for a date night outing. Posting a series of “Date night” photos to Instagram, Justin shared his and Hailey’s latest fits. If you were expecting classic going-out pieces (in the style of J-Rod) though, then you’d be mistaken. Their date night attire was just as cool and streetwear-minded as their off-duty style. Justin wore a leather Balenciaga moto jacket...

At Versace, Wet Hair and Red Lips Offer a Cool Twist on Mermaid Beauty (VOGUE)

Tonight in Milan, Versace brought a fantasy underwater dreamspace to life for its spring 2021 show. Described as a "utopian settlement on the seabed ruled by Medusa," there was aquatic blue lighting, sculptural sand relics, and a parade of bright, print-splashed, and crystal starfish-encrusted clothes. Speaking to the season's underwater theme—quite literally—was the sea of soaked strands. From Joan Smalls' raven lengths to Mica Arganaraz's shaggy brown curls, many of the models had their hair intricately shellacked along the forehead and down either side of the neck; sometimes with a set of barrettes and ends tucked underneath a chunky necklace to luxe, layered effect.   Furthering designer Donatella Versace's guiding "principles of empowerment, strength and beauty," were the neon-bright fuchsia lips worn by a few of the models including Precious...

It Was Only a Matter of Time Before PPE Went Luxe (VOGUE)

Face masks have dramatically evolved throughout the pandemic. They began as a necessary, utilitarian item. But as they became part of our everyday lives, fashion brands also began reimagining how a face covering can look. Though they’re still essential and utilitarian at their core (at the most essential level, a mask should always safely and comfortably cover one’s mouth and nose), they’ve now become a form of accessory. You can now find a mask in virtually any sort of style, from tie-dyed to covered in sequins. With that in mind, it was only a matter of time before this fashion sentiment evolved to other forms of PPE, too. Case and point: Louis Vuitton announced this week that it will be releasing its own high-fashion...

The Symbolism of Kamala Harris’s Outfit at the Democratic National Convention (Harper’s Bazaar)

Kamala Harris made history Wednesday night, officially accepting the Democratic party's vice presidential nomination. During the virtual Democratic National Convention, she gave a speech that introduced herself to the national stage; she spoke about her mother, being the child of immigrants, the legacy of Black politicians and activists who blazed a trail for her. Her clothes told part of her story, too. The senator from California wore a burgundy double-breasted blazer and trousers that she accessorized with a pearl necklace. The look was no great departure from the conservative fashions usually associated with the world of politics—pantsuits and pearls have long been part of the vernacular. But the details spoke volumes. White has become a popular color for women in politics in recent years,...

Burberry Is Launching Reusable Face Masks (ELLE)

If wearing face masks out in public will be a part of our standard operating procedure for the foreseeable future, we might as well do it in style. We've been matching our masks to our makeup and matching our masks to our looks. Several designers started making reusable masks early on the pandemic. Now Burberry has joined their ranks with the launch of its first-ever face mask collection. Burberry's masks are patterned in the brand's iconic Nova Check print and come in two different colorways: tan and light blue. Each mask was crafted from revalued fabric and antimicrobial technology, and provide Particle Filtration Efficiency (PFE). The pieces also arrive in its own portable pouch made from the same materials as the mask to protect it even...

Cardi B Gifted Megan Thee Stallion a Personalized, Over-the-Top Birkin Bag (VOGUE)

We could all use a friend like Cardi B. She and Megan Thee Stallion have been dominating the charts with their new song, “WAP.” The rap track has enjoyed record-breaking streams in its first week and currently sits at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. To celebrate their shared success, Cardi sent over a special gift to Hot Girl Meg this week: a custom Birkin bag. And the one-of-a-kind creation is a must see. A dedicated Birkin lover herself, Cardi knows a thing or two about the iconic Hermès style. She gifted her co-rapper the covetable handbag in orange, but naturally took it to the next level. It appears that she had an artist make it even more rare by painting Meg on...

Supreme’s First-Ever Beauty Collaboration Is Here—And It’s With Makeup Visionary Pat McGrath (VOGUE)

For more than 25 years, Supreme has been painting the town red. Of course, that town is none other than New York City, where the streetwear label opened its first store in SoHo, in April 1994. The location of many an around-the-block line of superfans, that shop has become a downtown institution and emblematic of the brand. “New York is synonymous with Supreme—when you hear the name, you automatically envision their signature white-on-red palette,” says Pat McGrath, who has joined forces with Supreme for its first-ever beauty collaboration. What’s on deck for the streetwear label’s debut foray into makeup? “An iconic red, embodied in the ultimate matte lipstick,” says McGrath, who created a special “Supreme” shade of her cult-favorite MatteTrance formula. The cool blue-red...

Kaia Gerber Inspired The Ultimate Lockdown-Era Legging (VOGUE)

Loungewear as everyday wear may be having a moment right now, but in Malibu (where you’ll often see people in hoodies, sweatpants, and Uggs) comfort-first style has long been the accepted dress code. Small wonder then that the perfect lockdown-era legging should come courtesy of model and Malibu native Kaia Gerber in collaboration with Bleusalt, a line of luxe, locally-produced loungewear. Launched in 2017 by photographer-turned-designer Lyndie Benson, Bleusalt’s beach-friendly pieces are all made from a super-soft, sustainable, breathable, and machine washable fiber derived from beechwood tree pulp, and the line is already a firm favorite among locals like Jennifer Meyer, Patrick Dempsey (who designed a six-piece men’s capsule collection for the brand in 2018), Pierce Brosnan and Minnie Driver. The Gerber-Crawford...
