5 TRENDS YOU NEED TO KNOW FROM SS24 FASHION WEEK RUNWAYS (Hypebae)

With Spring/Summer 2024 fashion week season wrapped, it’s time to look at the key trends that graced the runways and the hearts of our editors. This season, hyperfemininity was conjured in a variety of motifs from roses to bows indicating that girlhood is being redefined and empowered. Additionally, sheer fabrics were used in new forms celebrating a “Free The Nipple” spirit across fashion week presentations while denim doubled down driven by the current popularity of upcyling and thrifting. We also saw the likes of Miu Miu, Ottolinger, SRVC and more opt for pantless dressing, exploring a new underwear as outerwear era. Now that SS24 fashion month has come to a close, check out the five trends worth watching below. Underwear as Outerwear The underwear as outerwear trend derives from a...

Designers are looking to reinforce aesthetics we already love into overdrive. Jennie Kim Masters Balletcore in ‘You & Me’ Performance Video (W Magazine)

YouTube There may be no better indication of balletcore’s hold on, well, everything than Jennie Kim’s latest performance video, “You & Me.” In it, Jennie is a K-pop ballerina come to life and it seems that, in addition to her signature dreamy vocals, tutus are well on their way to becoming the singer’s secret weapon. The release of the track has been a long time coming for BLINKS—Jennie performed the song during Blackpink’s recently completed Born Pink World Tour and it is the star’s first solo release since 2018’s “Solo.” Singing about a lover, the video opens with the 27-year-old performing elegant choreography in a siren red look while flanked by a line of backup dancers. Her semi-sheer top, from fashion girl favorite Fanci Club, featured a...

A Wonderfully Weird Sneaker Is Taking Over Fashion Month (Vogue UK)

We don’t know about you, but we could spend hours and hours gawking at street-style photos during fashion month. Starting in New York, photographer Phil Oh has been documenting all the impossibly stylish outfits that guests have been wearing to the spring/summer 2024 shows for Vogue – with one particular shoe uniting the fashion crowd on both sides of the Atlantic. Phil Oh The hottest kicks of the season thus far are Martine Rose’s collaboration sneakers with Nike. The Shox MR4 were released in July last year, and the hybrid style combines the look of a football boot with a dress shoe. It features a mule construction for easy wear, as well as a cushioned, springy Shox heel. Designed in bold colours like neon green and...

5 Things To Know About Moschino’s 40th Anniversary SS24 Show (Vogue UK)

For spring/summer 2024, Moschino enlisted four stylists, each with their own creative visions, to craft a special collection for its 40th-anniversary celebration. British Vogue’s fashion critic Anders Christian Madsen was there. Isidore Montag / Gorunway.com 1/5 Moschino invited four stylists to interpret its legacy While we rarely name-check stylists in show reviews, the creatives who consult for brands are a huge part of the fashion conversation. When it came to celebrating its 40th anniversary this season – with a successor for Jeremy Scott yet to be announced – Moschino invited four stylists to interpret the legacy of its founder for one season only. In the show’s finale, models debuted an anniversary t-shirt with the slogan “Borrow me, wear me, hug me, love me” created in support of the...

Dua Lipa Finds a Flashy Antidote to the Mini Shoulder Bag (W Magazine)

Dua Lipa has taken a specific liking to everything mini over the years. Mini skirts, short dresses, even ultra-tiny necklaces. But, if there’s one thing about the 28-year-old singer, she enjoys mixing things up here and there. Case in point: her reflective oversized shoulder bag. In another one of her many summer photo dumps, Dua showed off a leather shoulder bag from Italian brand GCDS (she’s, fittingly, been vacationing with the label’s creative director Giuliano Calza in recent months). The sheer size of the piece took things from shoulder to tote territory, with it extending well below her waist. But it was really the series of metallic bulbs that made the bag stand out from your average carry-all. There were rows of rather small...

Mermaids, Sirens and the Fashion Imagination (W Magazine)

Collage by Ashley Peña We are all aware of the importance of hydration, but fashion has been drowning in its own aquaphilia as of late. Peruse through SSENSE or Farfetch and you'll see the sea everywhere: Sea-shell bras from Blumarine and Dsquared2, fishing-net-inspired knits from Marni, starfish earrings from David Koma and Loewe’s conch dress —marine motifs are no longer limited to the confines of the “vacation shop.” Even sweatpants have tails nowadays. If you’re thinking, "The ocean? For summer? Groundbreaking," I wouldn’t blame you, but we’ll be riding this wave well into the fall. On the fall/winter 2023 runways, Givenchy gave us a fish print with windswept chiffon and Balmain served up a crocheted, shell-inspired top. Coral somehow made it onto outerwear at Bottega Veneta, and gowns with scale-like iridescence shined at...

How to Achieve the “Latte Makeup” Look, According to Experts (W Magazine)

Photographs by Getty. Collage by Ashley Peña. We may receive a portion of sales if you purchase a product through a link in this article. Makeup trends come in and out of style with a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it rapidity. (Remember the wild cerulean eyeliner trend from last summer? That’s long gone.) Even Barbie-inspired looks—which were all over red carpets and magazine covers ahead of the release of Greta Gerwig’s new film—are already fizzling out (although, for the record: we will forever love a deep pink lip). The latest trend to take hold? The latte makeup look, which calls for browns and soft bronzes all over the face. It’s become a go-to look for Hailey Bieber and Gigi Hadid this summer—but it’s also been a key...

Has JW Anderson Made 2023’s Ugliest Shoe Already?

In Jonathan Anderson’s creative directorship roles at his eponymous label and Loewe, the designer has given us stilettos bulging with balloons, sandals with curves like car bumpers, sneakers sprouting cress and boots resembling slouchy shoulder bags. The designer has long flirted with the absurd and the surreal, creating shoes that fall into a category that has captivated this Vogue editor: “ugly”. The ugly shoe upped its ante in 2022, thanks to fashion’s newfound affection for Rihanna-approved Vibram FiveFinger shoes, the Birkenstock Boston mule, the comeback of the hood-toed Nike Air Rift, and an everlasting interest in Crocs. But thanks to Anderson, a new orthopaedic animal is in town. The reptilian “croc” is in for a shock and taking on some tough competition in 2023, thanks to a...
