The new collection from KNWLS is a love letter to the KNWLS woman. “The concept was about creating this chaotic, post-apocalyptic fantasy world, where our woman survives and thrives,” say co-creative directors Charlotte Knowles and Alexandre Arsenault of the inspiration behind their autumn/winter 2022 line, Precious.
Seven months after the former Fashion East alum’s showcased their spring/summer 2022 line in a parking garage in central London, the South London-based creatives have returned with another daring line, this time unveiled in an atmospheric short film. “This was a long season. Development was delayed, which is why we decided to skip February fashion week this year,” Knowles explains. After experiencing delays due to post-pandemic sampling issues in Italy, releasing the aptly-named line, which has a noticeably moodier, darker edge compared to past collections, feels much like sending precious cargo out into the world, the designers say.
Longtime fans of the brand – which has a celebrity following that includes some of the most risqué dressers on the scene, Megan Fox and Julia Fox among them – will be pleased to see KNWLS signatures like its corset tops, this time with plunging necklines, and low-slung, torso-flashing mesh trousers. They’re joined by rust cat-ear beanies and shearling-lined outerwear, plus shaggy leg warmers in shades of burnt amber, lilac and mint green.
