Long Story Short: This Season Is All About the Micro Miniskirt (VOGUE)

gbk
Two spring seasons after re-emergence and it’s clear, hemlines have risen, miniskirt outfits proliferated and the micro trend has gained legs, literally. And if showing skin is in, you’ll be happy to hear that everyone from Dior and Prada, to Versace has given us options to show some leg. Of course, you can’t think of miniskirts without referencing Miu Miu’s internet-breaking micro-mini, which was made up of classic workwear fabrics that had been cut low at the hips and high at the thighs. There was no shortage of abbreviated hemlines in the spring 2022 collections, earning the miniskirt the title of silhouette of the season. And while the miniskirt has a history with all kinds of fashion tropes from prep school to punk to ’60s mod style, let The Get be your...

The Best Fashion Instagrams of the Week: Dua Lipa, Gunna, Emma Chamberlain, and More (VOGUE)

dddsw
Dua Lipa continues to grace the world with her looks. Consider our eyes blessed. This past week, the touring artist took a break in a dive bar somewhere in Chicago. Despite the casual setting, she didn’t wear just a pared-back T-shirt and jeans outfit. Lipa wore a strappy print Mugler dress that was sliced across the collarbone and matching leggings. Another artist having a good time is Gunna. The rapper switched out his signature flash for a full Diesel look composed of a black hoodie, gray jacket, and jeans, plus some bold soled shoes. But look closely and there was some glitz: Gunna accessorized with a pair of leather Prada gloves with a hulking bedazzled pinky ring. Of course, it was also Paris...

Dua Lipa and Megan Thee Stallion’s Best Fashion and Beauty Moments in Sweetest Pie (W Magazine)

fgf
There was never any doubt that Dua Lipa and Megan Thee Stallion would come through with their own brands of style and glamour in the music video for “Sweetest Pie” when it hit the internet at midnight. In fact, as the words “concept by Megan Thee Stallion” hint in the very first second,” you’d be hard pressed to find any aspect of the video in which the pair doesn’t disappoint. It begins with two men stumbling upon a spider-shaped vessel in a verdant forest, which is flanked by more than a dozen pairs of naked legs that part to reveal the stars. They’re at the ready in the first of many standout ensembles to come: more Breakfast at Tiffany’s glamour for Megan—albeit in...

SPRING 2022’S BIGGEST MANICURE TRENDS ARE PARTY READY (NYLON)

jol
As we head into warmer months, our manicures, much like our outfits, are fit for a change. While this winter was all about moody blues, forest greens, and minimal festive orange, Spring 2022 manicures are set to be the pick-me-up we all desperately need. Already, we’re seeing notice-me vibrant colors and irresistibly playful patterns. Not to mention, nail gems and 3D textures, which started showing up in our feeds over winter but are set to explode for the remainder of this year. While many spring nail trends circulate year after year (think powdery pastels), nail art is certainly having a major moment right now and the trends are only becoming increasingly elaborate. We saw heightened interest in nail art with the rise of Euphoria manicures,...

BALMAIN’S NEWEST COLLECTION HONORS TRUTH (V Magazine)

ddddead
Balmain's men's and women's fall 2022 collection pays homage to the honesty and transparency necessary to form a collective arm against lies and aggression. According to longtime creative director Olivier Rousteing, the inspiration came directly from his response to "not-always-pleasurable experiences on social media." A direct reflection of current technology, the Parisian fashion house's newest collection features a largely pale palette, with shades of whites, creams, light pastels, and soft denims representing the affirmative clout that follows transparency. Black with pops of neon and gold embellishments also adorn the garments, adding statement pieces to an otherwise neutral collection. Unlikely pairings are seen throughout the pieces, with light fabrics such as lace used alongside metal and neoprene elements. An air of futurism is felt through elements...

We All Fell in Love With Euphoria’s Chloe Cherry This Fashion Month (VOGUE)

ghjg
Chloe Cherry might have had the best time at fashion month. The Euphoria star turned heads in New York, London, and Milan as she gleefully took in her first fabulous fashion weeks. Perpetually colorful and not yet jaded, she soaked all those flashing lights up. The actor’s first appearance was in the front row at Maryam Nassir Zadeh, for which she wore a pert cardigan with a cutout top, a sheer slip skirt, and strappy shoes. Cherry, known as the loveable ditzy Faye in Euphoria, was transformed into a saucy art babe among Zadeh’s kombucha-guzzling cult followers. A few days later Cherry posted a photo of herself at the London Edition in a preppy striped Alessandra Rich knit dress. She followed this up with...

MICK FLEETWOOD IS THE NEW FACE OF HARRY STYLES’ BEAUTY BRAND, PLEASING (NYLON)

bnk,
Ever since Harry Styles first dropped his boundary-blurring beauty line, Pleasing, in November of 2021, we knew that we would be craving much more than just the initial six-product drop. The first collection, called the “Perfect Pearl” collection, consisted of four nail polishes, an eye and lip balm, and a pearly serum primer. Now, Harry and the brand are finally promising to deliver a new range later this month. To help announce the new drop, named “Shroom Bloom,” Pleasing also announced legendary musician Mick Fleetwood as the new face of the brand and the star of the new collection’s psychedelic campaign, alongside cartoon frogs, flowers, and oversized mushrooms. Pleasing’s new campaign shows Fleetwood with his nails painted (naturally) in the colors...

Balenciaga Created a Somber, Snowy Squall to Honor Ukraine (W Magazine)

dsde
Balenciaga opened its fall 2022 with a statement from creative director Demna, formerly known as Demna Gvasalia, which addressed the attacks on Ukraine and his own personal experience as a refugee from his native country of Georgia. “The war in Ukraine has triggered the pain of a past trauma I have carried in me since 1993, when the same thing happened in my home country and I became a forever refugee,” he wrote. “This show needs no explanation, it is a dedication to fearlessness, to resistance, and to the victory of love and peace.” There’s something to be said about the way in which brands use their voice during times like these: pre-show, Balenciaga wiped its Instagram feed, save the sole...
