PPPP
The Y2K revival continues with the news of Iggy Azalea’s upcoming makeup collaboration. After teasing the launch on Twitter, yesterday the singer announced the Iggy Azalea and BH Cosmetics Makeup Collab– Totally Plastic collection. It’s giving us major 2000s girl group vibes. It’s no secret that the rapper loves the ’90s and ’00s aesthetics. Her breakout single Fancy even had a Cher Horowitz inspired music video. On her instagram, her style also often includes other throwback favorites like spiky up-dos and baby braids. Staring on Friday, August 29, we can all get Iggy’s look with the new “Totally Plastic” collection. The 13-piece collection includes three nine-color eyeshadow palettes (including the 2000s greatest hits– frosty blues, pastel purples, and candy pinks), a face contour palette, four lip glosses, fake eyelashes,...

KELIS’ BEST Y2K FASHION MOMENTS (NYLON)

y2k
You can’t talk about the Y2K fashion without mentioning Kelis’ style. Her outfits from the early 2000s were truly unmatched. The star (and definite trendsetter) had a natural penchant for mixing bold prints and rocking eccentric looks, from corset tops and mini skirts to sparkling evening gowns and animal prints. Along with her natural fashion sense, the award-winning singer (and now chef and entrepreneur who’s living her best cottagecore life) redefined the hip-hop and R&B scene with her soulful vocals and hit songs, including “Milkshake,” “Bossy,” and “Caught Out There.” Decades later, we’re now seeing a resurgence in these Y2K-era trends, but let’s not forget that Kelis was one of the originals to wear them best. Check out some of our favorite early-aughts looks from her, ahead. 1999, MTV...

LOOK EFFORTLESSLY COOL IN THESE BAGGY PANTS (V Magazine)

The pandemic has taught us to slow down and treat ourselves well. Back to school, back to the office, and back to normal, it’s time to say goodbye to our pajamas. As the world starts to get bustling again, we can still keep in mind: let’s take it easy. The first step is comfort dressing, and a pair of baggy pants would be an appropriate start. As seen in collections of fashion houses like Balenciaga, Maison Margiela and Jacquemus, with long length and extra-wide design, these pants are not only chic but also put you at ease. . BLOOMING GEL NAIL POLISH IS THE NEXT BIG THING IN MANICURES (NYLON)

HH
If you were a teenager in the early ’00s, you might remember the manicure magic that was shatter nail polish. The grunge effect had a hold over Y2K nail art, accentuating—or (in some opinions) ruining—the undercoat with a textured black design. Now, a new type of nail art science is taking off, blooming gel nail polish. It essentially creates the look of Lava Lamp nails without a lot of nail art expertise. Blooming gel nail polish is being used by celebrity nail artists like Imarni, who used the technique recently on FKA Twigs to create a kaleidoscopic moment (which she captured perfectly in a recent Instagram selfie). It’s also been requested by Gen Z beauty icons like Iris Law, who opted for blooming dots on...

This Indigenous Model Launched a Hand-Crocheted Knitwear Line (VOGUE)

UU
During last year’s stay-at-home order, New Mexico–based Indigenous model Lily Yeung—who is Navajo and Chinese—found comfort in handicrafts. “I’ve crocheted most of my life, and I returned to it this past year during the pandemic as it is a very meditative outlet for me. It made me feel comforted when things felt uncertain,” Yeung tells Vogue. The meditative hobby soon turned into a bigger project, however: Yeung experimented with hand-crocheted clothing items, and when she started sharing her creations on her Instagram page, the demand for her designs gained momentum. “I began to use crochet to create garments that held me and made me feel protected and beautiful,” Yeung says. “Once I began sharing some of the pieces I was making on Instagram,...

11 NEON EYELINER SHADES THAT WILL CONVINCE YOU TO GO BOLDER (NYLON)

JJ
It has been suggested that the mark of someone’s makeup prowess can be measured by how quickly and seamlessly they can apply an even winged liner. But practice makes perfect and so do the tools of the trade. A highly pigmented, easy to apply liner is an absolute staple in every makeup kit. Now, with statement liner back in full effect for 2021, it’s time to have some more fun with it. That means branching out from the classic black wing. “I feel people are going to be more experimental and more colorful in general,” said celebrity makeup artist, Erin Parsons in her interview with NYLON, when asked about the trends she expects to see in the upcoming season. “I think you're...

THE SIMON MILLER FALL-WINTER 2021 COLLECTION HAS ARRIVED (VOGUE)

OO

CEO and Creative Director, Chelsea Hansford, found inspiration in the classic American animated series ‘Looney Tunes’ and the long time battle between duo characters, Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner. For the collection, titled “Bird Club”, Hansford turned the 60’s cult TV classic into a bold color palette, with custom prints, and characters for an overall vibe that will make anyone who grew up with these cartoons feel super nostalgic. Celebrating Turning 26, Dua Lipa Reinterprets the Birthday Hat (VOGUE)

NN
Last week in all of her outré Leo glory, Dua Lipa rang in her 26th birthday (with some bops under her belt) in some stellar looks. One, in particular, stood out: She wore a birthday hat. And yet, this wasn’t your standard celebratory paper cone cap. Instead, she donned an XXL spiky faux fur hat; its brim was dip-dyed in highlighter hues for an old-school raver appeal—a piece by London designer Mowalola. That wasn’t the only label from the across-the-pond city she donned. Lipa styled the hat with an oversized gem-dotted suit by fellow young London brand Martine Rose, which she paired with a lace bra for a saucy effect. The London fashion train kept going, too. A few days later,...

Bella Hadid and Dua Lipa Will Make You Miss Summer Already (W Magazine)

hh
Bella Hadid and Dua Lipa have both spent the bulk of August posting up a storm of photos showcasing their individual expert vacation style. Lipa had been doing so from her native Albania, but it turns out she ended up joining Hadid in Ibiza for a trip that’s all but guaranteed to make you want to board a plane immediately. On Thursday, the pair shared a trove of photos of them together, documenting the full extent to which they had a ball (and looked fashionable while doing so). Naturally, each carousel was chockfull of throwbacks to ‘90s and early aughts fashion, starting with another of Hadid’s array of colorful butterfly hair clips. Hadid started out with yet another look at the sunset-print...

Stella McCartney’s Earliest, Raunchiest Designs Are Coming Back (VOGUE)

pp
The late ‘90s, rolling into the early ‘00s, is the fashion era I love most. It’s like minimalism got tipsy and started experimenting with mega-watt maximalism. It’s a chic whisper of a rhinestone, rather than the glitter that blinded the early aughts. Those years are best embodied by Stella McCartney at Chloé, who helmed the label from 1997 until 2001. And for quite some time, I’ve been steadily collecting her designs from her tenure at the French house. My closet is filled with those epic fruit T-shirts: bananas shaped as creepy-freaky hands cupping boobs; a big pineapple in the center of the chest. I have a spicy, off-the-shoulder “69” top that creeps a little above my belly button whenever I’m...
