Generation America: The Models Changing an Industry (VOGUE)

oop
"I always knew I’d be on the cover of the September issue,” says Precious Lee, exuding the serene self-assurance of a woman who’s gotten used to her dreams coming true. “I won’t say I never doubted it would happen, but on a deeper level, I just knew.” From one angle, what Lee says makes perfect sense: The Atlanta native is not only stunning—she also boasts that oh-so-rare talent for transmitting charisma directly through the lens. The same can be said of the seven other distinctively transfixing models who joined Lee at the Vogue offices for this celebratory shoot, staged as New York City began shaking off its pandemic doldrums. “This is so nuts,” says Kaia Gerber, cracking up as she and her...

Dua Lipa May Be On Vacation, But Her Outfits Are Hard at Work (VOGUE)

ppppp
Dua Lipa is currently out of office. Okay, the pop star hardly works a traditional 9-to-5, but she is indeed on vacation this week. But while she’s relaxing, her getaway style is still working overtime. Lipa has been serving bold statement looks galore while visiting Albania—and, lucky for us, uploading them to Instagram. It all began with a bikini look just a few days ago. With the assist of her stylist, Lorenzo Posocco, Lipa wore a cropped New York tee with a hot dog on it, and paired it with a bikini bottom and trucker hat (which are coming back, by the way). A day later, she once again served us a good hat, this time a crocheted, checkered bucket with a red bra top to match....

Dua Lipa’s Yacht Style Goes All in on Bold Color (W Magazine)

wm85
To say that the past 1.5 years have been stressful is an understatement. We are all in desperate need of a vacation, and while we await our own much-deserved holiday, we can live vicariously through famous people’s vacation style. Dua Lipa just shared her own sizzling summer look aboard a yacht with her beau, Anwar Hadid, and as the reigning U.K. disco-pop revival queen, she added a splash of ’70s appeal. Lipa is wearing a mini dress by the swimwear designer Louisa Ballou. The plunging neckline features a very on-trend o-ring hardware, and is printed with gorgeous orange painterly flowers—it seems to be the color of the summer, and the tank silhouette acts as the perfect cover-up for her black leatherette string bikini. She paired...

How Designers John Galliano and Tomo Koizumi Gloriously Transformed Each Other’s Work (VOGUE)

Galliano portrait: Paolo Roversi/Art + Commerce. Center image: Courtesy of Tomo Koizumi. Lettering: Jessica Nichols.  When Rihanna ascended the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s 2018 Costume Institute exhibition “Heavenly Bodies,” channeling Catholic panoply in a coruscating pearl-and-crystal-encrusted minidress and full-skirted robe designed by John Galliano for Maison Margiela Artisanal—replete with a papal miter fashioned by Stephen Jones—she showed us, as we noted then, “why she continues to inspire the fashion faithful.” Designer Tomo Koizumi, a Galliano admirer since the age of 14, when he first saw the designer’s work for Dior, recalls his delighted surprise at Rihanna’s appearance. “It was a very sophisticated look that betrayed my expectations in a good way,” he remembers, so he was both...

Rihanna’s Love of Fur Hats Continues, Even Amid Summer (W Magazine)

wm84
It usually isn’t too hard to keep up with the many trends Rihanna sets, but following suit this time around will take some bravery (and sweat): Lately, she’s been wearing pink fuzzy hats amid the summer heat. The singer stepped out in her second in a little over a month while in New York City on Monday, again calling to mind the larger-than-life chapeau that Pamela Anderson memorably wore to the 1999 VMAs. Marking another moment for the big pants, little tops trend, she paired her matching pin camisole with a baggy pair of camouflage cargos. Last but not least, she threw in another accessory not typically seen on a summer night: checkered sunglasses. Out-there as it may seem, the statement item is actually relatively low-key compared...

Fall’s Most Striking Accessories are Oversized, Textured, and (Strangest of All) Perfectly Practical (VOGUE)

VG833
Between Louis Vuitton’s whimsical collaboration with Fornasetti to Francesco Risso’s marvelously large handbags from Marni, this season’s slew of accessories are interesting and enticing; some of them are even surprisingly convenient. Despite their artistic appeal, Valentino’s texturized white PVC wellies could take on an unfortunate forecast, no problem. While Prada’s leather driving gloves come complete with a petite zip pouch if you wish to keep something small on hand (literally). And Miu Miu’s crocheted knit headscarves and masks will add a joyful pop of color to your neutral fall wardrobe, all the while keeping you warm and toasty. Shop the newest and most fantastical fall accessories from Vogue’s August issue, below. Prada gloves and jumpsuit; both at prada.com. Photographed by Théo de Gueltzl, Vogue, August 2021 Conner Ives shoulder bag, jacket and skirt; all at connerives.com. Photographed by...

THE CAMP SHIRT IS SUMMER’S MOST VERSATILE FASHION ITEM (NYLON)

NY83
Summer 2021 is in full swing, which begs the question: Does your wardrobe include a camp shirt yet? If you're interested in finding your first one or you've just fallen in love with the classic ‘90s style and want more options, then hello, welcome. We are avid, loyal fans to the humble yet extremely versatile fashion item for the warm-weather season and proud to sing its praises. Sure, you can throw on a T-shirt or tank and call it a day, but the camp shirt gives so much more to an outfit. It leans towards casual-cool but its open collar adds some polish to your look, all while staying as effortless as possible. Plus, its boxy, breezy silhouette keeps you cool (both physically and aesthetically)...

Bella Hadid Just Found Your New Favorite Depop Store (VOGUE)

VG83
Bella Hadid’s appreciation for vintage is well documented. The star cycles through old school Jean Paul Gaultier and aughts-era Tom Ford for Gucci regularly, but she doesn’t limit herself to ultra-luxury designers. Like every other twenty-something, Hadid sources secondhand pieces from her favorite labels online, hitting up Depop for archival JPG outerwear like the puffer she showed off on Instagram back in December and frequenting sellers like  Dutch Fonzie. This week Hadid showed off her latest acquisition from the platform: a two-piece set from Susamusa, created from deadstock fabric. Spotted running errands in Tribeca on Sunday, Hadid wore the sheerest of shirts and a matching pencil skirt with a lettuce trim hem. Made from vintage black mesh and detailed with white embroidered florals and swirling...

Rihanna Cast an All-Black Motorcycle Crew for Her Latest Savage X Fenty Campaign (VOGUE)

vg8222
New Orleans’ Caramel Curves, an all-Black women’s biking crew founded in 2005 by Nakosha “Coco” Smith and Shanika “Tru” Beatty, has already enjoyed the limelight for a few years thanks to their head-turning, pedal-to-the-metal clothing. When the 10 active members meet on Sundays, the women dress up in strappy heels fit for a night out, rhinestone-encrusted jackets, customized T-shirts boasting phrases like “anything but basic”, and helmets sprouting with fuchsia mohawks. The color palettes are flashy: blazing hot pinks, radiating highlighter yellows, and searing nuclear greens. There is no shortage of high-wattage glamour. It was enough to catch Rihanna’s eye, and have her cast them to model in the newest campaign for Savage X Fenty. “The Caramel Curves show the world what...
