Dua Lipa on the Meaning of Butterflies and Her Second Puma Collab (VOGUE)

Leopard faux-fur hats, silver shining opera gloves, and shaggy knit leg warmers are just a few of Dua Lipa’s recent outfit choices—but her adventurous spirit of dressing goes far beyond that too, expertly matching and melding streetwear with emerging labels and Y2K style. She has also become a muse to designers, walking the runway for Versace and, even more recently, Balenciaga fall 2022 couture. Unsurprisingly, Puma has bought her back for a second Flutur collaboration, featuring her signature playful aesthetic. This time around, the collection includes more than 30 pieces featuring pastel pink hues mixed with holographic stripes. Vivid purples and oranges with accent colors like green really shine, and the striped maxidresses evoke the sporty athleisure side of Lipa’s unique style. Lipa is adamant that each and every item easily...

How Iris Van Herpen Reshaped Couture for a New Generation (W Magazine)

During a hot summer afternoon at the Élysée Montmartre theater in Paris, the Dutch designer Iris Van Herpen tinkers with the last few stitches of her fall 2022 couture collection, one day before the show is slated to debut on July 4th. But instead of reworking a piece of traditional embroidery or tailoring an uneven hem, Van Herpen is looking over 3-D printed fibers made from cocoa beans that form a jumpsuit with copper-coated details and upcycled organza. In another corner, a team inspects wing-like 3-D printed shoes, while others ensure a futuristic gown made of bananas that were turned into biodegradable fabric and combined with raw silk is ready for its big runway debut. It all may seem like...

Dua Lipa Nails Festival Dressing in KNWLS BY ALEX KESSLER (VOGUE)

Glastonbury and Coachella might be over, but there are still plenty of major live music events to come this summer. So it stands to reason that festival fashion is a trending topic. And Dua Lipa’s latest boho-chic look is right on the money. The 26-year-old pop sensation documented an outfit perfect for a weekend of music and debauchery in the sunshine on her Instagram feed. The ensemble consisted of a purple sheer long-sleeve dress with matching fluffy leg-warmers, a black cat ear beanie hat, and a snakeskin-embossed leather shoulder bag, all of which are by emerging London label, Knwls. Dua topped off the look with silver hoop earrings, as well as black sunglasses and trainers by Balenciaga.   . . Originally posted from "VOGUE" by Alex Kessler...

Barbiecore Is Quickly Becoming the Trend of the Summer (W Magazine)

Ever since it was announced that Greta Gerwig would be taking on the world of Barbie in a film about the Mattel character, (and tapped real-life doll Margot Robbie for the title role,) the Internet has been devouring every piece of content and news around the project. Photos from the set, featuring Robbie in a hot pink Western-esque getup went viral quicker than you can say “let’s go party,” and now it seems like the color and aesthetic of the doll of the moment are taking over fashion. Lately, every red carpet features a Barbie-pink look, and it’s hard to scroll through Instagram without feeling like you’re walking the aisles of FAO Schwartz. If the summer of 2021 was a time for Goth, emo, and...

KALI UCHIS & LOLA LEON ARE Y2K FASHION TWINS IN NEW OBSESIÓN DENIM CAMPAIGN (NYLON)

After launching Bodied by Uchis in the fall of 2021, Kali Uchis is bringing the heat back this summer with the second drop for her inclusive clothing brand. This time, she’s tapping into the world of early-aughts denim trends and more. The “Telepatía” singer’s upcoming release, titled Obsesión, expands her fashion line with quality pieces made out of raw denim that take inspiration from her love for Latinas and the ‘90s. (Though, from the low-rise styles and raw-hem waists, we’re seeing a hint of Y2K fashion, too.) In celebration of the collection, Uchis has brought out a familiar style star rising on our radar, taking model (and daughter of Madonna) Lola Leon along for the ride — quite literally. 12 Corset Tops to Wear This Season (W Magazine)

Corset tops—long associated with Renaissance Faires, period films and prim Victorian fashions—have become a stand-out staple of the contemporary wardrobe. Who would’ve thought that what was once considered an outdated, constrictive garment would be reclaimed as an article of self-expression for all genders? Our top picks for this summer implement classical details that have been remixed with contemporary touches: Miaou takes a sweet tangerine toile and freshens it up with simple spaghetti straps, meanwhile Vivienne Westwood adds cotton poplin shirting material to a structured bodice. If you want to go with something a little more daring, why not try a crystal embellished cage from Area or va-va-voom styles by Honey Birdette? Pair any of these with loose, low-rise jeans or...

Cult Buy: Conner Ives’s Upcycled T-Shirt Dresses Are A Vogue Editor Essential (British VOGUE)

Conner Ives has been a name of note for some time. The American-born, London-based designer tallied some major career moments before even graduating from Central Saint Martins and his fashion trajectory has ascended ever since. Dressing Adwoa Aboah for the Met Gala in 2017 kickstarted his global exposure, but it was Rihanna who really got the wheels turning. The singer was an early fan of Ives’s deconstructed T-shirt dresses, which remain a brand signature to this day, and recruited him as one of the inaugural members of her Fenty design team. Adwoa Aboah wearing a reconstituted dress. With Rihanna’s seal of approval, Conner has continued to produce reconstituted dresses made from deadstock T-shirts that he carefully pieces together. Working with the oversized fits of the...
