At Louis Vuitton, a Wardrobe Fit For the Future (W Magazine)

huhuh
Although resort collections rarely get as much attention as their fall and spring counterparts (and the corresponding fashion weeks), the pre-season is just as crucial to the fashion trend cycle, if not more so. The Row’s Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen proved that heartily when they debuted their latest resort offering during Paris Fashion Week fall 2022. The presentation marked the designers’ first show in two years and between the extra long sleeves, sharply pointed collars, and richly tailored layers, it was perhaps an harbinger of the innovative looks to come. Meanwhile, Chanel returned to its globetrotting presentations staging a show at the Monte-Carlo Beach Club in Monaco. For the cruise outing, Virginie Viard presented a collection that paid tribute to...

THE POPCORN TOP IS THE LATEST Y2K TREND MAKING A COMEBACK (NYLON)

huhu
Remember the popcorn top? The scrunched-up, crinkled garment that looked like it would fit your Bratz doll but could actually fit everyone from your dog to your dad? Core memory restored. Well, it’s back. These magically-expanding, textured tops usually came in a scoop-neck, short-sleeve silhouette blanketed in an abstract mass of rainbow colors or a patchwork print. They could be found anywhere from your local Limited Too to the drugstore near your grandmother’s house, but this time around, they’ve upgraded with modern-day takes from brands and designers. The popcorn top’s inevitable return joins a nostalgic resurgence that includes butterfly clips, baggy and low-rise jeans, and platform flip-flops, to name a few. Emerging designer Chet Lo has gone viral for bringing back this quintessential texture...

The New Supers Will Be All Over Louisa Ballou’s Colour-Drenched Summer Drop (VOGUE UK)

lb
“I was acutely aware of how clothes felt on my body from a young age,” Louisa Ballou tells Vogue of her earliest fashion memories. “I was sensitive to seams, tags, and anything ill-fitting – that’s why, subconsciously, I’ve always wanted to create pieces that make you feel enveloped in liquid fabric.” Fast forward to now, and the Central Saint Martins graduate has taken the internet by storm, with famous fans like Bella Hadid, Dua Lipa, and Kendall Jenner fawning over her sexy, body-conscious resort wear since its launch in 2019. Despite her meteoric rise – the brand is stocked globally at retailers like Ssense, Matches Fashion, and Mytheresa – Louisa never set out to win over international It-girls. “It was a happy accident, and one that I...

The Best Fashion Instagrams of the Week: Halle Berry, Dua Lipa, Gunna, and More (VOGUE)

huuhu
If you’re searching for tips on how to remix a suit, look to Eric André and Johnny Knoxville. The duo posted an Instagram to promote Jackass Forever which featured both of them in three-piece baggy cream suits with knee-high boots. An interesting combination, sure, but delightfully different. Let’s see how their outré look plays into whatever situation they end up in during the next season. Halle Berry was in a saucier mood. The actor stunned in a full glittering silver jumpsuit–with diving decolletage!--by the label Amen Style. Berry had the ultimate caption for the megawatt look: “Life ain’t always perfect but this damn jumpsuit is.” We’d have to agree. Also in the mix of our favorite looks was Dua Lipa. Fresh off of her...

Dua Lipa Is The Biggest JW Anderson Fan Girl (VOGUE UK)

ftff
Dua Lipa is obsessed with fashion. Whether she’s wearing custom neon Balenciaga bodysuits for the Miami leg of her Future Nostalgia world tour, or head-to-toe Versace straight off the runway on a casual day, the pop superstar has a knack for serving jaw-dropping looks. And of late, Dua has developed a real taste for London brand JW Anderson. In her latest Instagram photo dump, the 26-year-old wears a red and white tracksuit from JW Anderson’s autumn/winter 2022 collection (look 22, to be exact about it). But this isn’t Dua’s first time wearing pieces by creative director Jonathan Anderson. Julia Fox Will Be All Over KNWLS’s Moody AW22 Collection (VOGUE UK)

jij
The new collection from KNWLS is a love letter to the KNWLS woman. “The concept was about creating this chaotic, post-apocalyptic fantasy world, where our woman survives and thrives,” say co-creative directors Charlotte Knowles and Alexandre Arsenault of the inspiration behind their autumn/winter 2022 line, Precious. Seven months after the former Fashion East alum’s showcased their spring/summer 2022 line in a parking garage in central London, the South London-based creatives have returned with another daring line, this time unveiled in an atmospheric short film. “This was a long season. Development was delayed, which is why we decided to skip February fashion week this year,” Knowles explains. After experiencing delays due to post-pandemic sampling issues in Italy, releasing the aptly-named line, which has a...

Haute Mesh Is Back & Here’s How To Wear It (VOGUE UK)

gyg
Recent trends like midriff-flossing and cut-outs suggest that designers really want us to flash the flesh. A great half-way house is second-skin mesh. Mugler is keeping several celebrities in haute mesh. Creative director Casey Cadwallader has continued the legacy of the late, great Thierry Mugler by creating innately sexy clothes, crafted using advanced fabric technology. “So much of Mugler is about making sure that the clothes aren’t restrictive, and that different curves can fit the garments in different ways,” he told Vogue of his spring/summer 2021 showcase, which saw Alek Wek, Dominique Jackson, Bella Hadid and Hunter Schafer wear his second-skin designs. Dominique Jackson wearing Casey Cadwallader’s spring/summer 2021 Mugler collection. Small-scale brands, including independent Depopers and Etsy sellers, have also been peddling the mesh...
