A Brand New Take On Summer Beach Dressing (VOGUE)

VOG26-4
In Vogue’s June/July issue, Hailey Bieber delivers a new take on beach dressing. Think sand-friendly classics like caftans, espadrilles, and straw hats, and then think again! For Bieber’s day at the beach, it’s all about a laid-back luxury rooted in Southern California, but with hints of somewhere more far-flung. We’re sensing a bit of the Caribbean, the Aeolian Islands, and even some earlier era, like, the 1990s? Sure, she’ll wear a preppy gingham bikini, but she’ll pair it with a bohemian beaded skirt. And in lieu of a linen cover-up, Bieber reaches for a graphic checkerboard tee that bursts with color. With no-makeup makeup and wavy hair, Bieber isn’t so much dressed for the beach as she is equipped to simply have it all this...

THE FASHION ESSENTIALS YOU NEED TO DRESS LIKE A POP STAR (NYLON)

NYL26-2
Today, some of our favorite pop stars still channel that glitzy era of bedazzled apparel, pastel color palettes, and statement accessories. This time around, though, the style comes with a modern twist, whether it’s updating flip-flop platforms with a pair of heeled mules or swapping butterfly clips (RIP) with today’s “It” accessory: a padded headband. But no matter the year or generation, a beloved artist’s stylish aesthetic will likely stand the test of time — or at least live forever on mood boards and among fandoms. Inspired by Olivia Rodrigo’s cover shoot for NYLON’s Music Issue, we gathered up the exact pieces (and some similar recommendations) that she wore for you to channel your own inner pop star, below. We only include...

The Best Deodorants to Try This Summer, According to 9 Vogue Editors (VOGUE)

vog26-2
As we transition from spring to summer and the weather heats up, finding the best deodorants becomes more of a priority—especially now that we’re seeing each other off-screen again. Whether you’re headed to a beach hang or checking out a new restaurant opening, the last thing you want to be worrying about is odor from that summer sweat. To help you focus more on enjoying yourself, nine Vogue editors weigh in on some of the best deodorants: from cult-classic antiperspirants to lavender-and-rose-infused natural deodorants that stick. Athena Club All Day Deo “I am on a perpetual hunt for deodorant optimization, and I’ve stuck with Athena Club’s offering for some time now. For a natural deodorant, I’ve found it works quite well without constant reapplication.” —Rachel Besser, market editor Athena Club...

Do I Have an Aesthetic? (VOGUE)

VOG26
On occasion, I’ll take a look in my closet, my apartment, and my social media accounts and wonder, what does all this add up to? Is there any throughline between the Bed Bath and Beyond beige plates, the Hermès champignons scarf I tracked down on eBay, the nun-shaped candle on my desk, and the crispy oven mitt printed with a 1950s housewife saying “I’ve got a knife”? Is there any visual connection between the table I found on Facebook marketplace and the IKEA Billy bookshelves present in many millennial households? (Mine are painted in Benjamin Moore’s Alligator Alley green). What I’m asking in these moments is, in internet parlance, what is my aesthetic? I’m wondering if I have successfully arranged my life...

Is Boho Chic Back? Kendall Jenner Says Yes (VOGUE)

KEN
From baguette bags to mesh tops to The Matrix-inspired tiny sunglasses, there have been few ’90s trend revivals that Kendall Jenner hasn’t had something to do with. And now, it appears the model and entrepreneur is casting her eye to the following decade for style inspiration: more specifically, the boho-chic look pioneered by the likes of Kate Moss and Sienna Miller that swept through fashion in the mid-noughties. As the host of the star-studded launch of her new tequila brand, 818, in West Hollywood last night—other attendees included Katy Perry, Hailey and Justin Bieber, and Drake—Jenner chose to wear a vintage Moschino floral silk crop top with a lace trim and a pair of vintage Chloé hip-hugging suede trousers with a lace-up detail. The finishing touch? A pair of Bottega Veneta square toe heels and a tiny...

These “Puffer Coat Sandals” Are Equally Extreme, Sustainable, and Chic (VOGUE)

tr2
@ugo_paulon/ Instagram If you’re looking for an antidote to the minimalist, barely-there shoe this summer, look no further than the label Ugo Paulon. The sandals are like little puffer coats for the feet, with bulbous, sculptural straps that lace around the calves. They’re accentuated with spirals and swirly prints in sandy and brown hues, or light pinks and fiery oranges. In short: It’s a ‘grammable footwear dream, already catching the eye of Vogue Market Editor Naomi Elizee and the musician Shygirl (who happened to be the first Ugo Paulon customer). @naomielizee/Instagram While the footwear is certainly a delight to look at, the story behind them is equally intriguing. The label was created by the rather secretive Danish, London-based designer who prefers to simply go by Elise....

What Will Be the Print of the Summer? (VOGUE)

TRENDS
Every season, without fail, there’s a breakout print that takes over our wardrobes. Last summer, it was all about tie-dye—in sweats, dresses, and more. During the summer of 2020, at-home tie-dye kits sold like hotcakes as people looked to busy themselves during lockdown. Groovy tie-dyes persisted in the recent spring 2021 collections too. Sportmax, Dior, Proenza Schouler, and more sent them down the runway. This spring, meanwhile, checkerboard knits also took over, a graphic alternative to the hippie tie-dye. Brands like Tyler McGillivary, Erika Maish, and Paloma Wool all applied checkers onto knitted sweaters, dresses, and more. “It’s a very approachable pattern to learn with, and it’s obviously very pleasing to look at and wear,” Halima Mbwana, designer and founder of Lilliez, told Vogue. Indeed, the breakout prints...

Chet Lo Turns Classic Knitwear on Its Head (W Magazine)

wmg
In 2021, fashion has firmly entered a new era of knitwear. No longer are cashmere sweaters and cable knits the norm—designers are pushing the boundaries and perception of what, exactly, makes a piece knitwear. After a year of pandemic-induced sweat set obsessions, we’re all looking for something that’s still comfortable, only much cooler. Enter the emerging, London-based designer Chet Lo, who’s at the center of it all.  Lo’s designs strike the balance between cozy and futuristic; vibrant, spike-sculpted fabrics resemble the popcorn ripples from your favorite childhood stretchy top—on steroids. The shapes are inspired by Durian fruits (a nod to Lo’s Asian American heritage), and each piece is hand-knitted, in bright shades of neon blue, futuristic purple, and baby pink. The...

Glossier’s New Ultralip Is My Go-To Summer Lipstick (InStyle)

lip
Matte lipstick and I have always been acquaintances, at best. While I love the look of a bold red lip, and admire anyone who wears one on a daily basis — but I'm not into touch ups, flaking, bleeding, and smears on my teeth. That's why I turn to tints or glosses for a more low-key lip product that I can quickly swipe on and forget about. However, as the world is starting to open up again, with mask-wearing now part-time, I'm finding myself in the mood to wear a colorful lip. However, attempting to go from tinted balm to a high-pigmented matte as the weather gets more hot and humid in New York does not sound like a good time. It...
