VALENTINO DOES IT AGAIN: BOLD COLORS, SPARKLES, AND CUTOUTS IN SS22 (V Magazine)

Valentino came in hot to Paris Fashion Week with their Spring-Summer 2022 collection that premiered in Le Carreau de Temple yesterday: sparkles, bright colors, ruffles, you name it. A series of mostly women’s and some men’s streetwear and formalwear, Valentino didn’t shy away from colorful, but timeless pieces – perhaps they were a tribute to 70s Valentino designs. When the show started, the first garments to debut were mostly neutrals, like the white jacket over a white bandeau bra and bottoms, and the sheer white shirt with different designed stripes with a mini skirt and sandals with straps reaching all the way up the calves. There was also a classy blazer, blouse, and trouser look, all in white, which was stunning. Dipping into colors, the next series...

Glitz, glamour, glitter, and glory—what a show. Creative Director Olivier Rousteing pulls out all the stops for his 10th anniversary Paris Fashion Week spectacular, set at La Seine Musicale. The show is in conjunction with the second ever Balmain Festival, taking place Sept. 28-29. The festival is a benefit, fundraising for the HIV/AIDS fighting organization RED, while celebrating music, dancing, cinema, and the arts. The Spring/Summer 2022 collection was presented on the second evening of the festival, in a wondrous extravaganza of black, white, red, and gold. Despite being shown on a shiny black stage with lit back panels and upbeat pop and hip hop music, the collection holds its own as eye-catching in its own right. The runway performance begins with...

THE GENIUS OF DESIGN AT LOEWE SPRING/SUMMER 2022 (V Magazine)

If fashion is wearable art, then Jonathan Anderson’s spring/summer 2022 collection for Loewe has just birthed a new Renaissance. Streamed live from Paris, the much-awaited show—Anderson himself has been teasing it on Instagram in recent weeks, posting detail shots of high-heeled shoes with egg yolks, roses or nail polish bottles at the end of each heel, giving the surreal appearance of being crushed—tethers the cool, funky and playful side of Loewe with the unadulterated craftsmanship and experimentation of Anderson, a perfect duo for contemporary exploration. Basics are restructured, built upon, made from something simple into something extraordinary. In a 53-look collection that is all about architecture and structure, we get what is perhaps a glimpse into what the closet staples in the year Y3K might...

The Best Jewelry From the Spring 2022 Runways (W Magazine)

Looks served during fashion week are always fresh, but it’s the accessories that take the average outfit and transform it into a work of art. This season, jewelry is big and bold with statement earrings making a strong showing (delicate hoops, your days just might be numbered). Sculptural pieces in organic materials, like glass and ceramic, seem to be one of the biggest trends of the season so far with brands like Gabriela Hearst, Maryam Nassir Zadeh, and Tory Burch keeping things down to earth. Meanwhile, Prada showed arm bands reminiscent of the ever-present 90s snap bracelet. And in a continuation of past seasons, pearls, albeit with a twist, continue to have their moment. Erdem, Carolina Herrera and Edward Crutchley...

DOJA CAT’S FIRST MAKEUP COLLAB IS INSPIRED BY “THE DIVINE ENERGY OF NATURE” (NYLON)

Doja Cat is a force to be reckoned with. Her latest album, Planet Her, secured her spot as our favorite pop outsider. Now, she follows in the footsteps of other genre-defining artists (like Rihanna, Ariana Grande, and Halsey) by entering into the world of beauty, announcing her first-ever beauty collection in collaboration with BH Cosmetics. It should come as little surprise that Doja has started to dabble in the world of makeup, considering her Instagram has proven that her eyeshadow game is strong. From smokey eyes and colorful, graphic liner, to otherworldy designs, her personal style is as eclectic as her songs are. If any of these looks are on your own personal makeup mood board, Doja told NYLON that you should be able to create most of them using her new palettes. “I...

The Beauty at Milan Fashion Week? It Was One Big Party (VOGUE)

The biggest takeaway from Milan Fashion Week spring/summer 2022 is that, after almost two years in and out of lockdown, people are really in the mood to party when it comes to beauty. But it’s not partying in the here and now that designers are concerned with, rather parties from another time and place entirely, such as Studio 54 for Kim Jones at Fendi, with all its decadence and sense of abandon. Or a late ’90s meets early Noughties mood, in the case of Blumarine and Versace, as well as Dolce & Gabbana with its sex appeal, glitz and glam. Below, Vogue rounds up the best beauty trends from Milan Fashion Week. Poker-straight hair Nothing says late ’90s/early Noughties more than poker-straight hair. Think Paris Hilton, Beyoncé Knowles, Jennifer Lopez, and even Jennifer...

Dua Lipa Wears the Ultimate Crochet and Lingerie Look (VOGUE)

Dua Lipa rang in her stylist Lorenza Posocco’s birthday in Italy this past weekend with some equally celebratory clothes. The pop star opted for a crochet mini skirt and crop top set from the GCDS spring 2022 collection, which came with adorable little skulls and long tassels attached to the skirt. Lipa wore a lace bra underneath her top and finished the look with a pair of sky-high, glitter-soaked platform Mary Jane heels for a retro, Cher effect. (Posocco, for his part, wore printed Versace trousers from fall 2021). Lipa has long been involved with the Italian label GCDS, who are known for infusing their clothes with cartoons and all-things playful. They created the pop star’s merch in 2017. For the...

MEGAN FOX AND KOURTNEY KARDASHIAN STAR IN A NEW SKIMS CAMPAIGN (NYLON)

Following the release of SKIMS’ cotton collection restock, Kim Kardashian enlisted a few close friends and loved ones to star in the launch’s campaign, and it’s a good one. The marketing genius called up goth-girlfriend duo Megan Fox and Kourtney Kardashian to show off the solutions-focused brand’s cotton bras and underwear — in no other color but black, of course. The new imagery, photographed by Donna Trope, is giving us Twilight vibes. SKIMS revealed the campaign on Instagram with a photo of Fox and Kourtney sharing an apple. Meanwhile, Kim took to Twitter to share the news, including a few more shots wearing matching cotton jersey and rib pieces (as well as matching green manicures) while holding a bouquet of roses. “Kourt, forever isn’t long...

BLUMARINE’S SPRING/SUMMER 2022 COLLECTION RECONSTRUCTS THE Y2K UNIFORM (V Magazine)

Infused with unabashed glamour and nods to Y2K aesthetics, Blumarine’s Spring/Summer 2022 collection continues the brand’s buzzy revival while also offering updated silhouettes to the label’s budding lexicon. Since his arrival at the helm of the Italian house, Creative Director Nicola Brognano’s intricate and kitschy designs have attracted a high-profile list of clientele like Rihanna, Ariana Grande, and Dua Lipa. By incorporating nods to the brand’s storied past and toying with a Y2K craze that has inundated social media, Brognano has cemented himself as one to watch during Milan Fashion Week. With Spring/Summer 2022, Blumarine’s 2000s It-Girl archetype opted for an updated version of the brand’s usual flirty separates. Standout pieces like printed low-rise trousers, ruffle mini dresses, and cropped cardigans...
