VIVIENNE WESTWOOD IS HERE TO SAVE OUR SOULS (V Magazine)

Who doesn't want to dress like a pirate? Vivienne Westwood's Spring/Summer collection, Save Our Souls, reimagines her 1998 line Tied to the Mast, pirate-wear for today. Her new collection looks at the broader idea of sailing and English culture starting at the Elizabethan era and what came after it. The line also takes inspiration from Couturier Redfern, a British designer who started in 1849. Image courtesy of Vivienne Westwood But the collection isn't just about looking into the past. The concept of "save our souls" applies to issues today such as gun legislation and climate change. To provide a more eco-friendly collection Westwood used a special wool from regenerative farming along with recycled materials. Save Our Souls is about saving people today from the ongoing...

THE BEST HAIR STYLES FROM THE MET GALA 2021 (V Magazine)

The Met Gala, once again, catches everyone’s attention this year and made a triumphant return, partly thanks to sparky beauty trends. The celebrities' hairstyles  seduced as much as they questioned as the guests incorporated original elegant hairdressing to their garments. Billie Eilish Getty Images The platinum garment associated to the blonde haircut of the singer looked like a modern Marilyn Monroe. Her wavy glint hairstyle looked inspired by the 50s. Lorde Getty Images The hair jewerly is definitely the piece de resistance of the singer's look. The golden crown and natural hair color matched perfectly with her white dress and gives a mystical overall look. THE 2021 MTV VMAS WAS A HUGE NIGHT FOR EARLY-2000S VINTAGE FASHION (NYLON)

The 2021 MTV Music Video Awards, hosted by Doja Cat, celebrated the network’s 40th anniversary, but its guests arrived honoring the fashion that came decades before them. The red carpet was full of early-aughts looks — and in some cases, actual archival pieces from that era — that left us wondering if this year’s ticket came with a nostalgia-heavy dress code. If so, everyone understood the assignment, but some viewers were less than impressed by the familiar looks. From Madison Beer’s Beyoncé tribute to Lil Nas X’s Lil’ Kim-inspired suit, take a look at the 2021 MTV VMAs red carpet looks that were a blast from the Y2K past: . MADISON BEER Madison Beer arrived in a vintage Dolce & Gabbana dress that Beyoncé wore on back in...

A BATHING APE FOUNDER NIGO IS THE NEW ARTISTIC DIRECTOR FOR KENZO (NYLON)

Another fashion month, another creative director announcement. On Wednesday, Sept. 15, LVMH revealed Kenzo’s newest artistic director: Nigo, the streetwear superstar and founder of A Bathing Ape, also known as Bape. His new role will officially start on Monday, Sept. 20. Nigo will be the first Japanese director to take on the role since the late Kenzo Takada’s departure from the brand back in 1999. Takada passed away in October 2020 due to COVID-19. Nigo succeeds Felipe Oliveria Baptista, who left his post at Lacoste and then parted from Kenzo after just two years. Before Baptista, Opening Ceremony’s Humberto Leon and Carol Lim oversaw Kenzo for eight years, revamping the French fashion house’s aesthetic back into relevancy within the industry.   In Nigo’s...

The 6 Biggest Beauty Trends of New York Fashion Week Spring 2022 (VOGUE)

At long last, this New York Fashion Week season saw the return of in-person shows and presentations. And suffice it to say—just as was the case with the clothes—seeing head-swiveling beauty moments IRL was pure magic. The forecast for next spring saw all kinds of statements. Some were striking in their simplicity, like Ulla Johnson’s blossoming lips or Adeam’s earthy washes of terra-cotta on the lids, while others emphasized the endorphin-boosting powers of a bold statement, like the beaming, multidimensional color statements from Anna Sui and Rodarte, and Moschino’s cascades of brightly beaded box braids. Here are six beauty trends that emerged throughout the week. . Shine and Sparkle Photo: Sam Sussman A little embellishment goes a long way on the eyes. The Coolest Met Gala Red Carpet Accessories Came From Emerging Brands (VOGUE)

In the year 2021, what was once considered subversions of a dress code are now ubiquitous red-carpet accessories—baseball caps, comfy casual sandals, cushy sneakers. Consider last night’s Met gala cohost Timothée Chalamet, who accompanied his Haider Ackermann getup with a pair of Chuck Taylors. All these alt-black-tie accessories now feel right at home on the red carpet alongside standbys like ankle-strap stiletto sandals, ultrafine jewels, and classic box clutches. But this year’s Met gala, celebrating the exhibition “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,” saw plenty of unexpected accessories that pushed the envelope even further. See Kim Kardashian looking semi-anonymous in a Balenciaga haute couture ensemble. However, some of the coolest statements came on a less obvious and smaller scale—most notably on attendees like Maisie Williams and...

Rihanna Sparks a New Trend at Her Met Gala After-Party (VOGUE)

After shutting down the Met Gala 2021 red carpet in an enrobing inky black Balenciaga gown, Rihanna pivoted from hyper-volume to an altogether slinkier silhouette for her after-party. Remember this is a woman who comes alive in the nighttime (she prefers to take sleep “pockets”, in line with her creative rhythms, rather than a good old eight hours); her post-Met look was always going to pack a punch. Wearing a luxed-up take on a black tee with a sheer black skirt weighed down by delicate beads, Rihanna’s after-hours finery was...

The Matchy-Matchy Outfit Is Taking Over New York Fashion Week (V Magazine)

At last, in-person fashion shows are back with street style stars, editors, and influencers taking over the sidewalks of New York City. And just a couple of days in, this season has brought out quite a few celebrities to the front rows. Fashionwise, there’s one thing they all seem to agree on: matching set outfits. Katie Holmes showed up to Christian Siriano’s show in a glittery blazer and coordinating flared trousers. Ciara whipped out a fall-ready leather skirt and matching corset for the Dundas x Revolve presentation. And while we haven’t seen Selena Gomez officially attend any shows this season, she’s still showing off her best street style looks in New York City. Most recently she opted for a sleek knitted Nanushka set. It’s basic fashion math: One...

DUNDAS COLLABORATES WITH REVOLVE FOR FIRST NYFW SHOW (V Magazine)

London-based designer Peter Dundas and Revolve joined forces for an electric New York Fashion Week drop. Dundas x Revolve launched on Wednesday at Casa Cipriani with a see-now-buy-now lineup of 46 runway looks and also marked the designer’s first showing at NYFW. The cast included models Imaan Hammam, Soo Joo Park, Stella Maxwell, and Cynthia Arrebola, who walked on an outdoor mirror structure overlooking the East River to early-2000s-like electronic beats. The natural wind blowing their hair added an extra glamorous feel to the occasion. Celebs Return to the Front Row at New York Fashion Week (W Magazine)

After a long pause, New York Fashion Week is back in full swing, which means stars from all over are braving the rain and flocking to the city in order to take their place along the runways across the city. The NYFW seating gods are, as always, on our side, placing mismatched pairs and trios next to each other and allowing the Internet to engage in some fan fic in an attempt to answer questions like, “What do you think Lil’ Kim and Alicia Silverstone talked about at the Christian Siriano show?” We may never know, but what is certain is that the parade of famous faces will continue throughout the week, as celebs admire the looks from the best seats in...
