Chopova Lowena’s It-Book Of Summer 2023 Stars Chlöe Sevigny (Vogue UK)

Emma Chopova and Laura Lowena are turning publishers. The British-Bulgarian duo behind Chopova Lowena have released a new book, Conversations with Angels, that is a retelling of Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale The Snow Queen by the artist and poet Precious Okoyomon. Starring Chlöe Sevigny as the titular queen, and photographed by Charlotte Wales, the book uses looks from the designers’ autumn/winter 2023 collection as a jumping-off point to tell this beloved children’s tale. Fashion’s love affair with the literary world has been raging for a few years. Loewe’s autumn/winter 2021 show notes included an excerpt of Danielle Steel’s novel The Affair and Proenza Schouler’s autumn/winter 2023 show featured diary entries by Ottessa Moshfegh on the soundtrack (read by Sevigny, as it happens). Just last month, Pierpaolo Piccioli cited Hanya Yanagihara’s A Little Life as an inspiration for his Valentino men’s spring/summer 2024 collection, going so far as...

Mermaidcore Madness: An SS23 Trend Spotligh (SSENSE)

jij
It’s Pisces season and across the fashion universe, the water sign energy is hitting whether you’re a horoscope head or an astrology denier. After all, water is the principal chemical component of the human body, which means that no one is immune to the ebbs and flows of this trend. “I have an immense love for the sea,” model Kiko Mizuhara said as she explained her first outfit in a recent “7 Days 7 Looks” video for Vogue Japan. She wore a swirly enamel shell necklace and matching burgundy crochet halter top, both by the very aquatic Spanish brand Gimaguas. Mizuhara is a city girl, but this season her style is shifting towards a more bohemian, mermaid-meets-land aesthetic. Nothing says mermaidcore like The Little Mermaid herself Halle Bailey on...

Dress Like a Bratz Doll in Blumarine and Marc Jacobs’s Debut Capsule (W Magazine)

Courtesy of Blumarine by Marc Jacobs Blumarine by Marc Jacobs Blumarine has linked up with Marc Jacobs’s Heaven line for a Y2K-focused capsule collection that’s one part Mean Girls, one part Bratz Dolls. The capsule, consisting of 11 pieces and available for purchase on July 7, features pink camo-print miniskirts, jeans with chain belts, cropped denim jackets, and baby tees that scream “aughts.” For its campaign, Blumarine and Marc Jacobs Heaven enlisted photographer Petra Collins and stylist Lotta Volkova to shoot and dress a cast of models inside a typical American high school. Amid rows of lockers, they clutch their tiny pink purses decorated with bedazzled “B” accents close to them; in the gym, they hold onto silvery pom-poms. “I remember lusting after Blumarine...

‘THE IDOL’ LEAD MAKEUP ARTIST ON TURNING JOCELYN INTO A ’00S FEMME FATALE POPSTAR (Hypebae)

Love it or hate it, Jocelyn (Lily-Rose Depp) of The Idol is all the girlies can talk about. We can’t help but feel like she’s someone who just stepped right out of a throwback pop star book. The pouty, “just kissed” lips, intentionally messy hair and slightly smeared makeup give off such a fierce and femme fatale vibe from the early to mid-’00s. Hypebae Beauty previously mentioned that Jocelyn’s makeup was primarily from Chanel Beauty. However, the makeup department lead, Kirsten Coleman gave her seal of approval. Kirsten is a well-respected makeup artist who worked on Euphoria and was personally chosen by showrunner Sam Levinson to develop a unique makeup style that would captivate audiences for The Idol. Coleman shared that she drew inspo for the character from Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears, which speaks to the “Indie Sleaze”...

OUR 10 MOST-COMPLIMENTED FRAGRANCES (THAT WE’RE WILLING TO SHARE) (NYLON)

huh
It might be the last step in your beauty routine before you walk out the door, but that doesn’t make it less important. The way you smell is how the world experiences you before they even can see you — so why not make sure you’re making an exciting first impression? Plus, scent corresponds closely with memory, so it’s a prime chance to make yourself memorable with just a spritz. A lot of flowery, confusing words and labels get thrown around in the perfume world, but what’s most important to describe about a fragrance is how it makes you feel and the effect it has on you (and whoever you want to smell you). So we’ve rounded up the fragrances that...

Meet Georgina Treviño, the Designer Dripping Beyoncé Out in Custom Jewelry (W Magazine)

In a world that yearns for novelty and encourages single use, Georgina Treviño sees the old and discarded as precious materials. Everything has value, according to the artist and jeweler: A tiny, rusted tin can transforms into a repurposed keychain; a row of vintage watches can be reworked into a wearable choker; a throwaway mechanical cockroach—inspired by the surprise guest who showed up on the Met Gala carpet this year—becomes a bedazzled figurine. “All the things I see on the street can be jewelry: a piece of trash, a straw, a pen,” Treviño tells me over Zoom from her studio in San Diego. Behind her, a giant gold watch lurks on the wall over her shoulder, accompanied by a red bedazzled face mask she later...

MEGAN THEE STALLION WORE “BLUEBERRY LIPS” FOR THE LOUIS VUITTON FASHION SHOW (NYLON)

dydy
Pharrell Williams’ highly anticipated Louis Vuitton runway show during Men’s fashion week in Paris was a fully star-studded affair. The show was the first for Pharrell since he was appointed the brand’s new men’s creative director on February 14 of this year. For the momentous occassion, Pusha-T performed during the show and Beyoncé, JAY-Z, and Rihanna sat front row, making the celebrity attendance just as compelling as the suit jackets with matching baggy shorts, oversized hats, and digital camouflage prints that were coming down the runway. Naturally, rap star Megan Thee Stallion also attended the show wearing a high-fashion look for the event— including an avant-garde makeup moment she calls “blueberry lips”. For the Men’s fashion week show, Megan wore distressed denim jeans with a...

NYLON/VICTORIA WARNKEN, STOCKSY BEAUTY 12 VIRAL BEAUTY PRODUCTS THAT ARE WORTH THE HYPE (NYLON)

kok
Whether it was a few days (hours?) ago, last week, or in the past few months, chances are high that you’ve bought something off your FYP page recently — the TikTok algorithm does not quit. But when was the last time you bought something off your FYP and actually felt like it lived up to the hype? Those times are much rarer— and TBH, should be celebrated when they do happen. Instead of a lot of forced trial and error (and a drained bank account), team NYLON took it upon ourselves to test the buzziest, viral beauty products on the market and see which ones are worth your hard-earned cash. From the eyeshadow you’ve seen every influencer use during your nighttime scroll to...
