Bella Hadid Arrives in the Metaverse With a New Line of NFTs (VOGUE)

Everyone wants a piece of Bella Hadid. Now, thanks to a new NFT (non-fungible token) platform called CY-B3LLA, they’ll be able to grab one, albeit in a modern, somewhat strange way. In collaboration with reBASE, a social metaverse site, Hadid is releasing a massive range—11,111 unique works, to be exact—of shoppable online art pieces based on her own image. These NFTs are digital assets, essentially cybernetic souvenirs or collectibles. It’s also more than just having the JPEG saved on your desktop: you receive a digital record (essentially a serial number or certificate of authenticity) that proves that you and only you purchased this specific asset. Hadid asked 10 different creatives to make art out of 3D scans of her own body, including...

Vintage To Vogue: 6 Summer Staples That Look Even Better Second-Hand (British VOGUE)

The world of second-hand and vintage fashion has been on a bit of a rollercoaster over the last few decades. Once the reserve of cash-strapped art students and west London bohemians, hunting out pre-loved clothing was very much a niche pastime that had no place in the mainstream fashion market. The average vintage-hunter would typically be found scouring antique stores and charity shops in obscure parts of the country for their next hidden gem – not exactly what you’d call accessible. Then, along came e-commerce. From Gen Z-ers selling their wares on Depop to rural bricks and mortar businesses connecting with new audiences on Instagram, suddenly the world of second-hand was blown wide open. “Second-hand is now second nature”, says Rachel Reavley, advisory board...

Yara Shahidi Just Reinvented The Classic Cat Eye (W Magazine)

There are some fashion and beauty basics that should never be messed with. The little black dress will always be a staple, a red lip isn’t going anywhere, and until recently, it seemed like the cat eye was pretty tried-and-true as well, that is, until Yara Shahidi flipped it on its head. On Tuesday, Shahidi dressed up to attend the unveiling of Cartier’s latest high jewelry collection at Liria Palace in Madrid, so of course couture was in order. But it was her makeup that really made a statement, a bold take on the classic cat eye that will leave you rethinking everything you know about beauty. For the occasion, Shahidi and her stylist, Jason Bolden plucked a dress from Valentino’s...

“It’s Full Self-Expression At Its Maximalist Best”: Harris Reed On Creating Beyoncé’s Club Kid Cover Fashion (British VOGUE)

Harris Reed’s party trick is performing Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies” dance. He learnt – and perfected it – as a youngster, and doesn’t care that it might be considered basic now. The song, like all of Queen B’s work, hits home. “As a young queer kid who came out in quite a conservative environment, hers is the music I’d play on the bus to school, when I was alone in the playground and eating my lunch by myself, dreaming of more of a glittering, romantic, fabulous world,” says Reed. His deep connection to the spirit of the Beyhive reached new heights when Vogue’s Edward Enninful called the creative and asked if he could make a bespoke look – and an edit of club...

11 WRAPAROUND SUNGLASSES THAT ARE MORE FASHION THAN SPORT (NYLON)

If you’re looking for a new sunglasses style to stock up on this summer, might we suggest wraparound sunglasses? The sporty style has been around for years, but brands have been recently revamping its look and paving the way for the frames’ entrance into high style. What was once considered an “ugly trend” exclusive to sports enthusiasts and dads has now been adopted by Billie Eilish, Bella Hadid, and Kendall Jenner. Balenciaga is the high-end option of choice among Kim Kardashian, Alexia Demie, and more, while Melbourne-based Reality Eyewear’s “Rush” wraparound frames have also been a favorite among the celebrity set, with Charli XCX, Hailey Bieber, and Justin Bieber spotted in the trending style. Plus, buzzy brands like Lexxola and Crap Eyewear have launched their...

Kendall Jenner’s Tank and Slip Dress Combo Is the Summer Styling Trick (VOGUE)

Last night, while out in Los Angeles attending a birthday party, Kendall Jenner stepped out wearing a skimpy dress with a colorful sketch print from Heaven by Marc Jacobs. She paired the curve-skimming slip with unlikely footwear—not a strappy heel nor a kitten heel—but a pair of Dorateymur croc-embossed leather boots. On her arm was a pared-back Acne shoulder bag. Bag and boots aside, the real head-turner here was that Jenner opted for a modest white tank top by Bassike as a layer underneath her skimpy dress. This styling trick was a different take on the white tank top or rather, the tried-and-true secret weapon of supermodels. In the past, we’ve seen both Bella and Gigi Hadid as well as Jenner pair...

Mugler’s Spring 2022 Collection Video Celebrates What Casey Cadwallader Does Best by Carolyn Twersky (W Magazine)

Throughout his time as the creative director of Mugler, Casey Cadwallader has become a bit of a go-to designer for pop stars, with everyone from Dua Lipa to Cardi B eager to get their hands on his illusion catsuits. This high demand, as well as Cadwallader’s close proximity to the on-stage set, has allowed the designer to perfect the suit and fit an artist’s specific needs. “A performer essentially wants to feel safe on stage, they don’t want to fall out of something,” Cadwallader said during a Zoom meeting with reporters on June 2nd. “They keep evolving,” he said of the bodysuits, and Mugler’s spring ready-to-wear collection shows the latest iteration of what is now being referred to as the “pop star uniform.” So,...

7 DENIM TRENDS THAT ARE GOING TO BE EVERYWHERE THIS SUMMER (NYLON)

If you’re anything like us, even the thought of jeans in the summer makes you overheat. But luckily, there’s still plenty of ways to wear denim during the warm-weather months. Corset tops, vests, skirts, and baggy shorts are just a few of the already-trending items that serve as a stylish alternative to your standard pair of blue jeans. Denim from every era seems to be back in our wardrobes, as well, and most significantly, styles of the ‘90s and early 2000s. From the dreaded low-rise to ankle-grazing maxi skirts, denim items that were never expected to return are now some of the hottest on the market. Another exciting development of this resurgence is the revival of brands like Jordache and Diesel that do denim so well. Plus,...

An Exclusive Look At Isamaya Ffrench’s Debut Make-Up Collection (British VOGUE)

Isamaya Ffrench is sitting at an outside table at London’s The Maine, a stone throw’s from Vogue’s HQ. It’s a particularly sunny Spring day and everyone is full of cheer, which makes what she’s about to unveil that much more subversive. Taking its cues from the visual lexicon of BDSM culture – the lids of two serums and a mascara come skewered with wearable hard metal piercings, while a bound rubbery figure emerges from a 14 pan eyeshadow palette – Isamaya’s first make-up collection (the Industrial collection), for her brand new beauty brand, Isamaya, and its accompanying Steven Klein-lensed campaign, is as much a statement about the beauty industry as it is about beauty. Because Isamaya isn’t your typical beauty brand: it’s not selling you some...

Hate Florals? Try These Summer Prints Instead (British VOGUE)

There aren’t many prints that are more synonymous with summer than florals. Whether it’s the ditzy flowers of the ’40s or the psychedelic blooms of the ’60s, posies have been reworked over the decades, taking on a variety of guises at the hands of different designers. Every year without fail you can expect to witness the floral infiltration of fashion, which sees even the most minimalist brands submit to the trend’s whimsical charm. What’s a floral-ambivalent fashion lover to do? If, like me, you prefer to have your foliage attached to a trellis rather than your trousers, shopping in the warmer months can present a bit of a challenge. However, I’m happy to report that there are plenty of summer-ready alternatives to try. Thanks to...
