JUNG HO-YEON STARS IN LOUIS VUITTON’S SPRING 2022 CAMPAIGN (NYLON)

Shortly after making her on-screen debut for Netflix’s top series Squid Game, Jung Ho-Yeon was an instant breakout star with her role as Sae-byeok. Shortly after the show’s debut in September 2021, the model-turned-actress became the newest global brand ambassador for Louis Vuitton just a month later. Now, her first campaign with her new gig for the French fashion house is finally here. On Thursday, Feb. 10, Louis Vuitton revealed its Spring 2022 campaign, lensed by British photographer David Sims. The campaign takes inspiration from ‘60s hyper-pop, featuring dazzling stars and colorful neon backdrops. Joining alongside Jung, who made her international modeling debut with Louis Vuitton back in 2016 and has starred in two other campaigns for the luxury brand before, are actors Stacy Martin,...

EUPHORIA NAIL ARTIST NATALIE MINERVA SAYS SURREALISM IS 2022’S BIGGEST NAIL TREND (NYLON)

There’s no denying that the “Euphoria effect” has had a major impact on the beauty industry. After season one of the HBO show came out in the summer of 2019, it seemed like everyone was investing in purple glitter eyeshadow and trying out bold cat-eye looks– including many people who had never tried that makeup before. Season two is already on the path to having the same impact (although with slightly more mature, moodier looks), but what’s new is now everyone is also talking about the cast’s mesmerizing nail looks, thanks to Los Angeles-based veteran nail artist Natalie Minerva. Minerva is the creative mind behind all of the iconic nail art we saw at the New Year’s party in episode one, including Kat’s graphic...

The Big Reveal! Shop the Lingerie Trends Seen On the Spring Runways (VOGUE)

If Olivia Wilde’s January 2022 cover is any indication, fashion is embracing lingerie in many forms for the spring season ahead. Wilde’s black Michael Kors bra top wasn’t the only intimates item we saw out of spring’s ready-to-wear assortment; in fact, it was just the start. Designers revealed undergarments in many ways, from subtle peeks to full-on seductive displays. There was Gucci’s star-studded, lingerie-filled line up which included everything from bustier slips, lace sets, and garters to, ahem, sex-toy jewelry. Don’t forget that Loewe paired airy pale blue blouses styled with nothing but high waist briefs. At Fendi, multiple models walked in lace triangle bralettes, be it under suiting or sultry black lace and mesh bodysuits. Meanwhile, JW Anderson’s dotted white sleeveless dresses coordinated white cotton...

How Lily James Transformed Into Pamela Anderson for Pam & Tommy (VOGUE)

Take it from yours truly, a beauty editor who once pulled out all the stops to dress up as Pamela Anderson for Halloween: becoming her is a true endeavor. And I only did it for one night; a paltry task compared to five full months of shooting a biopic of epic proportions. This is all to say, I bow down to Lily James and the glam team that transformed her into the Baywatch star and activist for Hulu’s new Pam & Tommy series, out today. Surely by now you’ve seen the viral pictures of James’s turn as the singular blonde bombshell of the ’90s. The British’s actor’s uncanny resemblance to Anderson, in all of her platinum blonde, barbed wire-tattooed glory, has stunned fans and audiences alike. And amid...

Meet the Vintage Dealer Behind Rihanna’s Pregnancy Shoot Jewelry (VOGUE)

When news broke earlier this week that Rihanna and A$AP Rocky are expecting their first child, the world went into overdrive. The queen of street style, whose outfits always make headlines, curated perhaps the coolest pregnancy announcement outfit ever. Photographed looking radiant, while cozied up to her boyfriend in his birthplace of Harlem, Rih wore a hot-pink Chanel fall 1996 coat with a Christian Lacroix gemstone crucifix necklace draped over her bump. The collector behind that special piece of jewelry is Kerry Bonnell, the longtime vintage connoisseur and founder of Archive vintage. “I purchased that necklace from an auction specifically for Rihanna; it reminds me of the ’80s in a wonderful way,” recalls the collector, who first connected with one of Rihanna’s stylists, Nini Nguyen,...

ROME IS THE MUSE IN FENDI COUTURE SPRING 2022 (V Magazine)

Drawing inspiration from the spirituality and history of Rome, the Fendi Couture Spring 2022 collection is a mystical representation of the past and future led by Kim Jones, artistic director of couture and womenswear collections. “When you walk down the street in Rome, you are constantly moving back and forth in time,” he said. “Where we work feels very modern, but you pass monuments on the way there. There’s a total timelessness to the city: a historic vein which runs through it, but also a movement that is projecting forwards.” The recognizable aesthetics and statuesque architecture of the city is explored through a celestial lens—fluid pieces are draped over shimmering bodices; beading appears illuminated; hand-embroidered tights act as a second skin. Sci-fi and...

Why Does ’90s Nostalgia Feel So Good Right Now? (W Magazine)

Call it the Zuckerberg paradox: The more the 21st century is dominated by smart devices and social media, the more there is a collective longing for the 1990s, the decade that trumpeted the end of the millennium and marked the final gasp of a global culture about to be completely rewired by Big Tech. Everywhere you look, across music, fashion, film, and television, there seems to be a postmodern pining for a less plugged-in era. Few in the public eye wish they could turn back time as much as Adele, one of the music industry’s last remaining recording artists with a capital R. For the release of her latest album, 30, the singer persuaded Spotify to disable the shuffle button on all artists’...

The 22-Year-Old Designer Flipping Thrifted Socks and Cables Into Heels (V Magazine)

There’s a changing of the guard in fashion and culture. Gen Z creators are pushing the conversation forward in ways both awe-inspiring and audacious. Our latest project, Youthquake, invites you to discover how these artists, musicians, actors, designers, and models are radically reimagining the future. Blame William Shakespeare. Early in lockdown, it became an adage—then a joke, then a cliché—that since he wrote King Lear during the plague, we could, too, channel our isolation into creative energy. But some people did actually create some life-changing feats of creativity during lockdown, including 22-year-old Tega Akinola. In early 2020, the British designer, then a sports psychology student, headed to her parents’ home in the Midlands to quarantine. Cleaning out her bedroom, she came across a bag...
