If wearing face masks out in public will be a part of our standard operating procedure for the foreseeable future, we might as well do it in style. We've been matching our masks to our makeup and matching our masks to our looks. Several designers started making reusable masks early on the pandemic. Now Burberry has joined their ranks with the launch of its first-ever face mask collection. Burberry's masks are patterned in the brand's iconic Nova Check print and come in two different colorways: tan and light blue. Each mask was crafted from revalued fabric and antimicrobial technology, and provide Particle Filtration Efficiency (PFE). The pieces also arrive in its own portable pouch made from the same materials as the mask to protect it even...

Cardi B Gifted Megan Thee Stallion a Personalized, Over-the-Top Birkin Bag (VOGUE)

WAP
We could all use a friend like Cardi B. She and Megan Thee Stallion have been dominating the charts with their new song, “WAP.” The rap track has enjoyed record-breaking streams in its first week and currently sits at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. To celebrate their shared success, Cardi sent over a special gift to Hot Girl Meg this week: a custom Birkin bag. And the one-of-a-kind creation is a must see. A dedicated Birkin lover herself, Cardi knows a thing or two about the iconic Hermès style. She gifted her co-rapper the covetable handbag in orange, but naturally took it to the next level. It appears that she had an artist make it even more rare by painting Meg on...

For more than 25 years, Supreme has been painting the town red. Of course, that town is none other than New York City, where the streetwear label opened its first store in SoHo, in April 1994. The location of many an around-the-block line of superfans, that shop has become a downtown institution and emblematic of the brand. “New York is synonymous with Supreme—when you hear the name, you automatically envision their signature white-on-red palette,” says Pat McGrath, who has joined forces with Supreme for its first-ever beauty collaboration. What’s on deck for the streetwear label’s debut foray into makeup? “An iconic red, embodied in the ultimate matte lipstick,” says McGrath, who created a special “Supreme” shade of her cult-favorite MatteTrance formula. The cool blue-red...

Kaia Gerber Inspired The Ultimate Lockdown-Era Legging (VOGUE)

kaiapant
Loungewear as everyday wear may be having a moment right now, but in Malibu (where you’ll often see people in hoodies, sweatpants, and Uggs) comfort-first style has long been the accepted dress code. Small wonder then that the perfect lockdown-era legging should come courtesy of model and Malibu native Kaia Gerber in collaboration with Bleusalt, a line of luxe, locally-produced loungewear. Launched in 2017 by photographer-turned-designer Lyndie Benson, Bleusalt’s beach-friendly pieces are all made from a super-soft, sustainable, breathable, and machine washable fiber derived from beechwood tree pulp, and the line is already a firm favorite among locals like Jennifer Meyer, Patrick Dempsey (who designed a six-piece men’s capsule collection for the brand in 2018), Pierce Brosnan and Minnie Driver. The Gerber-Crawford...

Unknown-220(1)
Zerina Akers is having a moment. The Maryland bred stylist has long been a familiar name to fashion insiders and members of the Beyhive, but her cultural impact has never been more evident. After six years of working with Beyoncé Knowles, curating the music legend’s wardrobe in music videos, Instagram posts, and on red carpets, last week she helped deliver Knowles’s magnum opus, Black is King. A bombastic trip through the star’s Lion King companion album, The Gift, and across the African continent, it serves as a showcase for both their talents. With more than a hundred different looks, each frame of the film overflows with fashion culled from runways, boutiques, designers yet to be discovered by the mainstream, and custom pieces Akers...

Screen Shot 2020-07-27 at 9.09.36 AM
By now we’re familiar with Nicki Minaj’s outré take on fashion. From her music videos to her appearances in the front row, the hip hop legend dresses fearlessly and with camp flair. Naturally, when it’s time for Minaj to make an announcement she does so with panache, and this morning she dropped a bombshell on the internet with the announcement of her pregnancy. The star took to Instagram to share a glamorous photo of her bump and the news that she and husband, Kenneth Petty, were expecting. Minaj put the focus on the imagery by simply captioning her Instagram update #preggers. Shot by photographer Alex Loucas while clad in a patchwork Swarovski crystal detailed bikini by Lacey Dalimonte, marabou tipped platform...

Jennifer Lopez On How She’s Quarantining, Her New Shoe Line, And Working From Home (ELLE)

gettyimages-1173036772
The shoe must go on. Jennifer Lopez was meant to be in her hometown of New York City today, where she was going to launch her new (and very good) footwear collection with DSW. Instead, like many of us, the hottest woman in the world is working from home. In her case, that means calling me from her house in LA, where the sounds of her laughing twins (Emme and Max, 12) echo in the background. "If I sound out of breath, it's not because I'm sick," she vows. "It's because I'm working out!" (Weight training, FYI.) "My [DSW] sneakers have quite a lift in them, actually," she says. "You know the sneakers with the really sick bottoms, like Balenciaga? That's the kind I...

Study Suggests Luxury Fashion Creative Directors Have Five-Year “Expiration Date” (HYPEBEAST)

https___hypebeast.com_image_2020_06_luxury-fashion-creative-directors-five-year-expiration-date-study-0-1
With news of Matthew M Williams‘ appointment to the house of Givenchy still fresh, Quartz has reported of a new study published by investment company Bernstein. The analysis hints that “successful” creative directors of luxury fashion brands average a five year “expiry date.” The report appears to underscore recent creative director moves, with data informed by big news like Raf Simons swapping Calvin Klein for Prada, Clare Waight Keller’s tenure as artistic director of Givenchy and Kim Jones‘ appointment to Dior. Bernstein considered company profitability, share prices and enterprise value (an estimation of total value) when appraising the performances of creative directors. Crucially, Bernstein discovered that after a five year stretch with any one creative director, a company’s fortunes would decline. This may explain why powerhouses like LVMH and Kering are more keen to replace their creative directors in short timeframes,...

Christian Dior’s Cruise Show Will Be Live, but With No Audience, in Italy on July 22 (VOGUE)

GettyImages-1126091396
Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pietro Beccari, Christian Dior’s creative director of the women’s collection and CEO, respectively, hosted a video conference today to announce the Paris house’s cruise plans. The COVID-19 pandemic forced the postponement of Dior’s original show date of May 27. With France and Italy now more than a month into their reopenings, the company is moving forward with plans for a new date of July 22. A live show with no audience will be staged at the Piazza del Duomo in Lecce, a historic city in Italy’s Puglia region. Beccari gave three reasons for the show. “The first one for Maria Grazia and I, but I think we are not the only ones: luxury is emotions, and when it comes...

Chanel Says Coronavirus Impact Will Affect Luxury Sector for Next Two Years (HYPEBEAST)

https___hypebeast.com_image_2020_06_chanel-says-coronavirus-impact-will-affect-luxury-sector-for-next-two-years-001
Despite the coronavirus pandemic slowly getting under control, French luxury goods company Chanel predicts that the lingering effects on the economy will impact the luxury sector for at least the next two years. “We anticipate that the external environment will continue to impact the luxury sector negatively for at least the next 18 to 24 months,” says Chanel’s CFO Philippe Blondiaux in an interview with Reuters. Despite these predictions, the group has seen a 13 percent growth since 2019 and expects to end the year profitable. Previously having to shutter many of its retail locations, almost 85 percent of the group’s stores have now opened, with a massive sales rebound in China with some weeks going over 100 percent. Business is starting to resume in Paris,...
