Thank You, Rihanna, for Making a Concealer That Covers My Dark Circles in Seconds (InStyle)

rih
Rihanna has given us so much to be thankful for. Along with a back catalog of incredible music, a collection of fashionable fits, and a skincare line, her Fenty Beauty line remains a source of constant, noteworthy makeup releases. For its latest drop, Fenty Beauty created a concealer that targets a common skin woe: dark circles. Caused by a variety of factors, including genetics, lifestyle, and aging, darkened under-eyes are something many people have to deal with. Treatment or coverage of the under-eye skin isn't necessary by any means, but as for me, I prefer to use makeup to hide them. My decision is due largely to the fact that despite drinking coffee and swearing by an early bedtime, I still often wake up with dark circles....

The Best Eyebrow Gels to Try This Summer and Beyond (VOGUE)

EB
With all the mask wearing of the past 18 months, the focus has been on the eyes like never before, making the search for the best eyebrow gels more of a priority. And now, as we trade social distancing for more in-person interactions, well-defined arches are the perfect accompaniment to a first date or friend reunion. “Brow gels groom the brows into place, creating more fluff as well as accentuating brow hairs’ natural luster,” explains René de la Garza, owner of Brow Down Studio in Los Angeles and celebrity brow stylist to the likes of Lizzo and Cardi B. He adds that brow gel can “help seal in the brow shape before using brow pencil.” When shopping for brow gels, De la Garza recommends looking...

At This Year’s Miss Universe, Miss Singapore’s Look Made a Powerful Statement (VOGUE)

Last night at the Miss Universe pageant in Florida, the reigning Miss Singapore, Bernadette Belle Wu Ong, walked the stage. Ong strutted out while wearing a red bedazzled bodysuit, cuissardes, and a red and white dress. The dress, a riff on Singapore’s national flag, was created by designer Arwin Meriales. According to Meriales’s Instagram, he had only two days to design the piece, which came with exaggerated puffed and pleated sleeves and a long train. But the most powerful element of the look could be found on its reverse. On the back, hand-painted in red and white by artist Paulo Espinosa read the message: “Stop Asian Hate.” Posting the look to Instagram, the contestant wrote the following in the caption: “What...

Rihanna Brings the Ultimate in Summer Beauty Inspiration (VOGUE)

Rihanna
Some note seasonal shifts by changes in temperature, while others rely on solstices and equinoxes as the official marker of another year's quadrants. Others, still, look to aesthetics—and one look at Rihanna's Tuesday Instagram is a sure sign that summer is near. The pop star posted a trio of captures showcasing a high-impact hairstyle and crochet-clad skin defined by its hydrated shine. First came the series of flat-twists that gave way to a crown of diminutive Bantu knots, the ultimate in toppers. Effulgent touches of makeup—a bit of brightening shadow at the corners of each eye, a swipe of glass lipgloss—gave way to limbs showcasing an impressive radiance. The secret? Fenty Beauty's Butta Drop Whipped Oil Body Cream. “One thing bout #BUTTADROP , it’s gon give...

The Magic of Ziwe’s Megawatt Look, Brought to Life by Stylist Pamela Shepard-Hill (VOGUE)

Comedian Ziwe Fumudoh is destined to be a household name. That much is clear on her new show, simply titled Ziwe and brought to you by A24 and Showtime. Both campy and elegant, the talk show packs a punch with its layered commentary on race and ample wit. But the look is bigger and brighter than what you expect from late night or daytime. In a cabaret-style musical skit, Ziwe sings, “Lisa called the cops on Black people, even just for taking a stroll,” grooving in a LaQuan Smith black catsuit with sheer panels streaming up the thighs. It’s all delightfully extra. The show’s clothes are made to look larger than life. “The intention was to create looks that aided Ziwe in the...

Billie Eilish Says her New Blonde Hair Was Inspired By Fan Art (W Magazine)

Billie
By now, the entire world knows that Billie Eilish has blonde hair. Her photo on Instagram showing off her new color transformation became one of the most-liked posts of all time, and her hair plays a starring role in her new Vogue UK cover spread. For Eilish, going from black with slime green roots to full-on platinum blonde coincides with the release of her new album Happier Than Ever — and had been in the works for some time. “I’ve been wanting it blonde for a while,” said Eilish in a recent appearance on Ellen. She also revealed that a fan had inspired the look: “I saw a fan edit when I had green hair. It was like me, with whatever hair color I had, and they just edited blonde hair on...

Blackpink’s Rosé Is Saint Laurent’s Modern-Day Muse (W Magazine)

rose
Rarely has heartbreak looked so attractive. “Why’d you have to hit and run me? Now I’m all alone cryin’ ugly,” sings the Korean megastar Rosé, swaddled in bright green marabou feathers. Rosé is known to many millions around the world as a member of the red-hot K-pop foursome Blackpink, but we see her here in her second solo video, for a song called “Gone,” which dropped earlier this year. In another scene from the same video, she beats up a pillow. Once again, she is draped in marabou, but this time in a deep blue. She might be crying, but she sure isn’t crying ugly. Perhaps marabou feathers help ease romantic pain. “For us, when we listen to a song, we...

How Indigenous Model Quannah Chasinghorse Is Redefining Beauty (VOGUE)

169699320_176326044332756_4789390457624184539_n
For Vogue Mexico’s May issue, the publication wanted a cover star who represents “the face of a new generation of models,” and Indigenous model Quannah Chasinghorse certainly embodies this in more ways than one. Photographed by Inez & Vinoodh for the cover (in an ethereal Valentino dress, no less) the 18-year-old is a refreshing addition to the fashion scene: She proudly displays her traditional tattoos, rocks authentic Indigenous style, and has an array of impressive activism work under her belt too. In the process, she’s also breaking barriers, providing much-needed representation for Indigenous people in an industry that has long overlooked and excluded Indigenous talent. Currently based in Fairbanks, Alaska, Chasinghorse—who is Hän Gwich’in and Oglala Lakota—is still relatively new to modeling. She...
