14 Incredibly Beautiful Photos Kyoto In The Snow

1484695801-kyoto

It only snows in Kyoto a few times a year and it's even more rare for it to stick to the ground. So people in the Japanese city this past weekend were in for a real treat when a cold air mass hit the country, covering the entire region in a blanket of snow.
Here are some of those magical scenes that locals and travelers posted on Instagram and Twitter from Kyoto this weekend.

Locals say it only shows twice a year in Kyoto. And not very much. Guess I got lucky. ♥️

JACKSON HOLE, WYOMING

This bright star in the western firmament has about everything a winter traveler could want: a thrilling ski resort (in spite of its past reputation as an experts-only hill, lots of intermediate and groomed runs have opened for the rest of us), great food (go high and splurge on a meal at The Kitchen or snag some spicy takeout at Teton Thai), and plenty of activities for non-skiers (say ahhh to a spa day or take a winter snowcoach tour of Grand Teton National Park to see snowy bison).

The Fashion Girl’s Guide to Making True Winter Wear Look Chic

120616-winter-wear-look-lead
It happens every winter: First come the fallen leaves, then comes the fallen temperature, and then ultimately, your fallen ego as you're forced to break out the dreaded winter gear that makes you look like a yeti bounty hunter (you know, the enormous, puffy coat with the clunky boots and yards upon yards of fluffy fleece and flannel). The truth is, we sacrifice a lot to stay warm, including fluid mobility and, well, looking stylish. But it doesn't always have to be this way. Believe it or not, it is possible to make practical winter wear fashionable. Think out-of-the-box layering. Think texture mixing. Everything you need to get sartorially inspired this season is down below. Scroll through for seven winter looks that are as chic as they are...

Why Everyone’s Wearing a Puffer Coat This Winter

112916-puffer-jacket-lead
Yes, it's true. The sleeper hit of winter outerwear this season is the puffer coat. Why? Blame it on the pack of puffers that paraded down the fall 2016 runways, which ranged from Chanel's pale pink quilted number to Demna Gvasalia's very buzzy design for Balenciaga—singled out as the It puffer for its unmistakable bold red hue, unmistakably dragged down off the shoulder. Perhaps another reason: Because it's basically a sleeping bag that you can commute in. Winter is coming, we want to be warm, so why fight it? Besides, here's a moment when fashion trends are in our favor—like how the style and comfort stars align with our athleisure favorites like joggers and sneakers—so it's time to capitalize. To that end, we winnowed down all the choices to...

For some, the transition from winter to spring is easy. Out with the chunky winter coat and in with all those floaty fabrics, denim dresses and light knits. For others, ditching what has become a successful wardrobe, carefully curated over the past few months, is no easy task. Luckily, with the great British weather only gradually warming, most of your classic staples will do just fine when mixed-in with a few new-season buys. There’s plenty of reason to invest in the new – hello silky slip dresses and slip-on loafers – while hardworking heroes should be embraced, and the rest packed away until the cooler weather returns. Here’s our guide to mastering transitional dressing.   Do experiment with colour Where once was a...

How To Bring Plain Coats To Life During This Week’s Big Chill

3
Show-goers at New York AW16 Fashion Week are battling against serious sub-zero temperatures. Many have had to accept that the words ‘minus seven’ and ‘new Gucci mules’ don’t fit together as planned during those evenings of meticulous outfit packing. Bad news for Brits, for the frost is spreading across the pond. To coincide with the opening parties of London Fashion Week, it is expected to snow on Thursday. The only thing we can do is take tips from brave New Yorkers and eek out the life of our practical layers. Paying extra attention to the colour of your gloves, or the material of your polo neck can make all the difference. Brace yourself ladies. Double up with contrasting colour and texture Wearing two...
