Top 5 Menswear Shows From Milan Fashion Week

1200x600 (4)

Milan is home to some of the most over-the-top luxury brands in menswear, so it's always a perfect place for fashion-a-holics like us get inspired for the coming season. Here are five of our favorite shows from MFW, which has just ended.

Versace

Donatella Versace doesn't know the meaning of moderation and thank god for that. The show featured all your favorite Versace tropes — animal prints, medusa heads, plaids, velvets — but it was all seen through a preppy lens with lots of splashes of Versace Casa (the brand's incredible line of homewares).

Moschino

Jeremy Scott is famous for bringing whimsical themes to his Moschino collections, but this season he was feeling darker. A mostly black-and-white bondage collection was...

Following the epic reunion of '90s supermodels on Versace's Spring 2018 runway, the brand has enlisted some of the most iconic models of the past three decades for its spring campaign.
Like the runway collection, the Spring 2018 ads act as a tribute to the late Gianni Versace, 20 years after his tragic death. Lensed by Steven Meisel, the campaign stars multiple generations of supermodels including Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Gisele Bündchen, Natalia Vodianova, Raquel Zimmermann, Gigi Hadid, Kaia Gerber, Irina Shayk, Vittoria Ceretti, Cara Taylor, Birgit Kos, Grace Elizabeth, and Noah Luis Brown.

A new school take on a family tradition - conceived by Artistic Director, @Donatella_Versace and shot by legendary collaborator #StevenMeisel, the #VersaceSS18 Campaign portrays - together for the first time in...

eef2da8bea03ac6cc232a13732d368d8-1440x630

The iconic designer will be awarded tonight at the 2017 Fashion Awards.

There's no one in the fashion world that can cause a scene quite like Donatella Versace. The iconic fashion designer built upon her brother Gianni's legacy in such a fabulous way, making her own name in the process. And tonight, she's going to be recognized for her tremendous work. Versace's artistic director will receive the Fashion Icon Award at the 2017 Fashion Awards in London, in collaboration with Swarovski. The timing is significant given that December 2017 marks the 20th year since Donatella took the helm at the historic fashion house. “I am truly honoured to be collecting the Fashion Icon Award at The Fashion Awards 2017," Donatella said....

Logomania, The 1990s Trend That’s Returned With A Vengeance

As demonstrated by the A/W17 collections, branding is back to assert its place in our wardrobes

The logomania trend, whilst rooted in the excess of the 1980s, truly came into its own during the following decade, as a sartorial response to the US economic boom of the 1990s. Whilst branding initially found its place in fashion as a mechanism to denote prosperity and status, it soon became an aesthetic trope in itself, with Calvin Klein, Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior logos emblazoned on It bags, splashed across sweaters and seductively printed on underwear. Post-recession, the desire to wear labels in such a blatant manner waned, and a quiet minimalism began to dominate the runways. This season, however, the logo returned with a vengeance...

It's been 20 years since the tragic death of Gianni Versace and to celebrate the late designer's legacy, Donatella Versace hosted a very special Versace show during Milan Fashion Week today.
Along with a Spring 2018 collection paying homage to Gianni's greatest designs, the original '90s supermodels reunited on the runway for the occasion. Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer, Carla Bruni, and Helena Christensen all walked hand-in-hand behind Donatella for an incredible finale down the runway. Each wearing a gold Versace chainmail gown, the surprise reunion made for a truly goosebumps-inducing moment:

Few names in fashion are more synonymous with glamour than Versace. The Italian house is famed for its flashy metallics, vibrant prints and Medusa head logos – and not forgetting for its charismatic creative director Donatella Versace. It’s no surprise that the Atelier Versace couture show is always one of the season’s most anticipated. High-profile guests and a line-up of industry veterans are always guaranteed, and last night's show was no exception.

Gigi Hadid & Karlie Kloss Head To Chicago For Versace

image
Another Versace event, another Gigi Hadid appearance. And while the 21-year-old model wasn't physically present at the house's spring 2017 men's show in Milan on Saturday, her face was emblazoned across a video screen. In a short film by Bruce Weber titled "Chicago Is My Beat," Hadid and fellow model Karlie Kloss, among others, are seen in various parts of the city, surrounded by (and embracing) the local dance, music, and art scenes. The video, an extension of the brand's "controversial" campaign that sparked debate just a few months ago over its use of an interracial couple, gives further insight into what Versace called its "take on the modern family." Consider this a behind-the-scenes look at the advertorial (with some appearances...

Gigi Hadid And Karlie Kloss Play Power Moms For Vrsace’s Fall Campaign

Karlie Kloss and Gigi Hadid star in Versace's ad campaign. Photo: Bruce Weber for Versace
Twenty years after their last project together, Donatella Versace and Bruce Weber are joining forces again for the sexy Italian brand's fall 2016 ad campaign. The New York Times has the scoop on the change in direction, with Versace telling Vanessa Friedman: "Versace’s image is so much about the red carpet. But I wanted to make day clothes fierce. You know: She’s a superstar, and she runs her business, and she runs her family too." To that end, Versace tapped Karlie Kloss and recent muse Gigi Hadid to play power moms in a much less glossy campaign than we're used to seeing from the brand. Never mind that the children in question look to be at least 7 or 8 years old —...
