For whatever reason, spring and summer clothing is typically associated with color, whether it's punchy floral prints, cheery pastels or sunny shades like pink and yellow. But this week, celebrities were over it, collectively preferring a color palette of black and white.
Summer whites are, of course, a thing, and I guess black is as good a shade as any to pair with them. And this week's best dressed ladies (and their stylists) found creative ways to blend them: Rowan Blanchard chose a cropped Chanelgraphic tee and Tamron Hall went with head-to-toe Monse polka dots, while Kate Middleton and Lily James accessorized white dresses with black accessories.
Truth be told, they all looked pretty chic. Sometimes less really is more. See all of this week's best dressed in the gallery below.
Let there be more fans. Not the selfie-taking, barrier-upending kind, but the breeze-making, ha-I'm-from-another-century kind. It's one more thing to wedge into your straw basket, sure, but well worth the two seconds of trouble when your train gets stuck underground and the AC malfunctions. Other pros: that satisfying THWAP sound, can function as an instrument of seduction. See seven inspiration photos below.

Or you could no-bag it for the breeziest summer outfit of all. In complementary pastels, an accordion fan to wave lazily in front of your face/smack other people in their faces if they're rude is the only accoutrement you need.

Ever so slowly, the tube top crept back into our collective consciousness before we could say "Smocking! Begone!" But maybe it's not so bad this time around? Even with the tiny sunglasses that have somehow also survived the bonfire of the aught-ities? To help you arrive at a decision, a collection of photos ahead.

Before we officially start, a refresher on what people wore in 2000. Look at the sequins. The implied stretchiness. The spoon-bowl-size lenses on the sunglasses! Those were the days—or not.

Here's the plan for this Independence Day: While everyone else commits what should be classified as high treason against the state *and* against fashion, there will be nary a star on your body. (Stripes are okay.) You will look chic, well-ventilated, and casual, but you will not think about anything more than whatcocktail you'll try next. And why is that? Easy—we've done all the work for you.
The white eyelet lace and the scalloped shorts are pretty, but not overly stuffy.
