Prabal Gurung is known for his inspiring, inclusive, and powerful runways during New York Fashion Week—and his Fall 2018 show last night was no exception.
Backstage, the mood was set for models walking the show with empowering posters reading positive mantras like "Your voice is your power: use it for justice" hanging on the walls.

Blake Lively And Gigi Hadid Hung Out Last Night And It Was Precious

Startraks

We're feeling serious FOMO.

Gigi Hadid is a super supportive sister and friend when it comes to cheering on her siblings and fellow models on their accomplishments; and last night, she did the same for Blake Lively. Hadid joined the actress for the NYC screening of her new film, All I See Is You.
Both stepped out in shimmery ensembles for the event. Gigi opted for a yellow cut-out dress by Prabal Gurung while Blake went for a silver Chanel number, then changed into an athletic-inspired look by Monse. (Those were just two out of the seven total outfits she wore yesterday.)

Lively's husband, Ryan Reynolds, was also present, but he didn't stop the two BFFs from catching up.

Gigi Hadid Proves Monochrome Is Best In Bright Yellow

Getty

The model sparkled in Prabal Gurung last night.

This fall, celebs seem to be throwing the typical rules and hues out the window for brighter colors — jewel tones be damned. Gigi Hadid is one of them, opting for a fresh color palette in shades of bright canary yellow while out in New York last night.
The model wore a sparkling look straight from Prabal Gurung's Spring 2018 runway to attend a screening of Blake Lively's new film, All I See is You. That bright yellow! That cut-out! That ruffle overlay! The fringe! So chic. Making the look fully monochromatic, Hadid topped off the flashy frock with yellow pumps and oversized earrings.

Prabal Gurung Knows We Need a Fashion Revolution

landscape-1505937889-gettyimages-603118108-1
Prabal Gurung is at a rare moment of standstill. At an isolated table at The Dirty French, the Singaporian designer is discussing his new 16-piece collection with plus-size retailer Lane Bryant, a collaboration that's been a long time in the making. Gurung is no stranger to designing for curvier women (having cast plus-size models like Ashley Graham and Candice Huffine in his shows before) and using his stage to promote inclusivity. A prime example was his Fall 2017 show, where models walked the runway wearing tees with politically charged slogans like, "Our Minds, Our Bodies, Our Power;" "Break Down Walls;" and "I Am an Immigrant." This collection only seeks to amplify his message. It's no secret that plus-size women aren't exactly privileged in the...

Getty

The feminist icon sat front row at Prabal Gurung.

You can always count on star-studded front rows at New York Fashion Week but last night, the fashion set was in for a real surprise when Gloria Steinem graced the Prabal Gurung show with her presence. It was the feminist icon's first ever fashion show and the designer was so excited that he came out to personally greet her before the runway even began. Known to cast diverse models and use fashion to make political statements, Gurung was a fitting choice for Steinem's first NYFW experience. To celebrate the occasion, Steinem shared a picture holding up her invitation at the show. "There is a first time for everything, even at 83! First #nyfw show @prabalgurung, a...

For the second season in a row the New York fashion industry is coming together to stand up for what’s right. Today, the Council of Fashion Designers of America has announced that it will be launching an initiative during fashion week to support the ACLU. Titled “Fashion for ACLU,” the CFDA is hoping it will encourage its members to speak out against racism, bigotry, and hatred. “We want to be on the front line, not the sidelines, to boldly fight to protect our precious rights and freedoms, which has taken on a renewed urgency after the heart-wrenching events of Charlottesville,” Steven Kolb, President and CEO of the CFDA, said in a statement. “Our goal is to actively support concrete work that...

Proenza Schouler Taps Activists And Models To Raise Awareness For Planned Parenthood

As Planned Parenthood confronts defunding under the recently passed GOP health care bill, the fate of women’s health in America is in jeopardy. Ever since Donald Trump was elected president in November 2016, the fashion industry has rallied together to draw attention to the 2.5 million men and women who visit Planned Parenthood clinics across the country every year. They come for breast examination and cervical screenings, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases and infections, contraception and family planning. Over the past nine months, designers like Diane von Furstenberg, Prabal Gurung, Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs, and Sophie Theallet have been drumming up support for the cause in the media and have all publicly refused to dress First Lady, Melania Trump....

Joseph Altuzarra, Prabal Gurung, and Pamela Love Join Hillary Clinton’s Made for History Campaign

holding-hillary-designer-tees
As the presidential campaigns head into the April 19 New York primary, Hillary Clinton has expanded her fashion-focused Made for History program. Following the success of the designer tees by Marc Jacobs, Tory Burch, and Public Schoolthat launched in February, team HRC is debuting new designs today from Joseph Altuzarra, Prabal Gurung, and Pamela Love. “Personally, I am supporting Hillary because I believe she represents the future—and has the experience and knowledge to carry out change on issues that matter to the country, such as equal pay for women, LGBT equality, climate change, and energy,” said Altuzarra. His design, a bold black-and-white stripe logo, calls to mind the monochrome details from his recent Spring show—in fact, we’d say this top would...
