The Coolest Hair And Makeup At Firefly Music Festival 2017

Your top priority when you're at a festival with questionable shower access, buckets of sweat (not entirely your own), and thunderstorms on the horizon? Definitely not your hair and makeup. Yet these 12 uber-women at Firefly Music Festival still managed to do it up with glitter and plaits aplenty. See the weekend's best beauty street style ahead.

Spotted at the braid tent (yes, there was one): Kelsey's bun mohawk, styled from a pink dye job that magically faded to purple.

Play against type and shake up a summer-goth aesthetic with a printed trophy headband. (Keep the dark lip, though.)

An intricate maze of pink braids, as seen...

How To Pull Off Red Eye Makeup

It started during fashion week, when models walked the runway at Anna Sui's spring 2017 show with a wash of burgundy around their eyes. At Kenzo, Max Mara, Ferragamo, and Tadashi Shoji, there were more variations on red lids. Then Selena Gomez won the Met Gala red carpet with a combination of red and pink eye shadow, the perfect foil to her otherwise low-key look. The least-likely eye accent was officially having a moment. According to makeup artist Katie Jane Hughes, the bold shade—once relegated to lips, cheeks, and of course nails—is surprisingly easy to execute around the eyes because it's strangely flattering. "For lighter eyes, it really brings out the brightness," she explains. "And on dark eyes, it's a pop...

What It’s Like To Go Glamping At Firefly Music Festival

For Montreal-based beauty blogger Alex Centomo, festival season isn't just about indie bands and non-stop dancing. It's a months-long marathon of moments to show off her signature boho style and envy-inducing mermaid waves. To help us get some of that this summer, we trailed the 26-year-old YouTube star as she put her styling skills to the test in the great outdoors: glamping at Firefly Music Festival.

Embracing wet hair The whole doing-your-hair-in-the-wilderness and embracing-your-natural-texture thing? So cool for festival season, says Alex. "A blowout is so not worth it in the summer—I say, play up whatever natural texture you've got!" Good thing, since primping in a tent means finding a cute wet hairstyle that dries to perfection. But...

The Ben Nye Fireworks Wheel Is the OG Highlighter All Famous Makeup Artists Started With

In a pre-Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit world, professional makeup artists like Mario Dedivanovic and Pati Dubroff were obsessed with the Ben Nye Fireworks Wheel. It was the like the gateway highlighter for them, and some of them forgot all about its existence until last night. Benjamin Puckey, an editorial makeup artist based in New York, posted a picture of it on his Instagram page. His caption read, "Before Madina's Chic & Shine stick, before the plethora of highlighters we have now, we had the OG of highlighters: @BenNyeMakeup's #FireWorksWheel. Here's to a true original 🙌🏻" The comments section of his post quickly became a fangirl session with the who's who of the makeup artist world over the Ben Nye Fireworks...

Too Faced Maybe Just Teased a Britney Spears Collab

It was only a matter of time until Too Faced hinted at another fan-favorite product to obsess over. I mean, how could you not love their Sweet Peach scented collection that looks (and smells!) like an actual peach?
A few days ago, co-founder Jerrod Blandino teased a new eye shadow palette, featuring glittery shades ranging from neutral to bright, colorful tones, on his Instagram account. His caption, arguably one of the most iconic Britney Spears lyrics of all time, reads, "I'm a slave for you #toofaced" — and it has commenters in a tizzy.

5 Quick Tricks to Make Your Eyes Look Freaking Enormous

Your eyes are not the best secret keepers — they give away everything from your lack of sleep to your pollen allergy. Make them appear bigger, though, and you'll look awake and refreshed even when you're running on new-mom levels of sleep (no matter how old your little angels are).
Get strategic with mascara.

After you layer on your first coat of mascara, business as usual, "apply the second coat just to the outer corners of the eyes," says Ashleigh Ciucci, a makeup artist in New York City. "By highlighting just those outer lashes, your eyes will appear more lifted and open." L'Oréal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara thickens and lengthens for an uber-flattering effect.

Highlight your lids. Just like highlighter...

6 Summer Beauty Ideas From Couture Week

Want to get the perfect (rouge-ish) lip, make the most of humidified frizz, or amplify that dewy summer glow by a thousand? Study the couture catwalks.

TEXTURAL TWIST Curls took an ingenious turn at Dior, where hair maestro Guido Palau employed the old-school "tissue set"—using twisted paper towels as curlers—to make the hair "more floaty" than a curling iron could. Starting at the roots, Palau wound the hair around the paper twists, leaving the tips free "to avoid too-curly ends." After clamping a flatiron over each twist for a few seconds, he allowed curls to cool before unwinding them and gently grazing them with a bristle brush for an ultrapillowy effect. Windswept coils also reigned at...

New Instagram Trend: Negative Space Stars at the Inner Corners of Your Eyes

A couple months ago I started following Rocio Cervantes (a.k.a. @rocioceja_) on Instagram for the colorful closeups of her unique eye makeup looks. Even though she doesn't call herself a makeup artist, she has a signature style that would make you think she's a pro. And one of those signatures is negative space stars placed right at the inner corners of her eyes (an area that rarely sees any makeup other than highlighter or beige pencil). As someone who follows almost 2,000 MUAs (pro, novice, and aspiring alike) on Instagram, I can confidently say I've never seen anyone do something like this so consistently. The simple inner detail adds an edginess to even the most basic, neutral smoky eyes and...
