Infinity Braids Are Weaving Their Way Through Instagram

18950413_1430818290346516_7611878325752954880_n
Despite having natural chocolate-brown hair that I love, I still follow more hair colorists on Instagram than actual people I know. I live vicariously through the bright rainbow-haired people that come up on my Instagram feed and occasionally dream of dyeing my hair like the mother of pearl trend. Megan Schipani, a stylist at Bescene Studios in Rockville, Maryland, is one of my favorites to follow. Better known as @shmeggsandbaconn on Instagram, hair creations with clever names like "spicy watermelon" and "summer quartz" throughly entertain me. Lately, she's been styling her clients' hair into a braid that is much more intricate than the fishtails. She calls them "infinity braids." Turns out, #infinitybraid has about 4,822 posts, and #infinitybraids has another 419....

How to French Braid Your Hair in 5 Easy Steps

howtofrenchbraid
Love the look of a French braid but not sure how create the hairstyle yourself? We asked Nathaniel Hawkins, celebrity hairstylist at Tracey Mattingly, how to French braid our hair on our own. Mattingly (who has tamed the tresses of Uma Thurman, Jennifer Lopez, and Adele, to name a few) broke down the plaiting process in five easy steps. How to French Braid Your Hair 1. Start with Unwashed Hair "To make sure that your hair has some texture and hold to it, avoid thick conditioners—especially those with silicone in them—that make strands slippery," Hawkins says. If you must shampoo, apply a sea salt spray (Hawkins loves the KMS California Hairplay Sea Salt Spray) after towel-drying to give the hair extra weight and...

1. Mark the length you want on the inseam. Then, use a ruler and chalk to create a line that you'll cut across. 2. Once you've cut off the excess length of each pant, cut along the inseam to open up each leg. 3. Cut two squares of extra fabric from the discarded leg pieces. These will be used to fill in the triangle gaps between the legs. 4. Sew (or glue) the squares on the underside of the skirt, filling in...

New Instagram Trend: Negative Space Stars at the Inner Corners of Your Eyes

innercornerstarstout
A couple months ago I started following Rocio Cervantes (a.k.a. @rocioceja_) on Instagram for the colorful closeups of her unique eye makeup looks. Even though she doesn't call herself a makeup artist, she has a signature style that would make you think she's a pro. And one of those signatures is negative space stars placed right at the inner corners of her eyes (an area that rarely sees any makeup other than highlighter or beige pencil). As someone who follows almost 2,000 MUAs (pro, novice, and aspiring alike) on Instagram, I can confidently say I've never seen anyone do something like this so consistently. The simple inner detail adds an edginess to even the most basic, neutral smoky eyes and...

Fishtail Flower Braid

maxresdefault
With the amount of bridesmaid duties and wedding dinners I have to attend this year, not only am I spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing a pretty dress (because anyone who’s been on Zalora knows my pain), I’m also having a tough time deciding on a suitable hairstyle for each occasion. #Priorities I’m a fan of anything that’s girlie and sweet, hence why loose braids are one of my favourite hairstyles to do on a lazy day. How to Get a Refund for LuLaRoe’s Defective Leggings

lularoe-leggings
Following numerous customer complaints and lawsuits over its questionable business practices, fast fashion brand LuLaRoe announced Tuesday it will offer refunds to all customers who purchased defective leggings between Jan. 1, 2016, and April 24, 2017, Yahoo Style reports. The brand’s announcement comes after LuLaRoe made headlines for allegedly intentionally selling leggings that, as customers have claimed, “rip like wet toilet paper.” Additionally, several customers have said that the brand — which employs independent sellers to hawk its cult-favorite leggings — purposefully taxed sales in states that do not require taxing clothing items. A private Facebook group for those wishing to discuss their defective clothing items has more than 25,000 members, which just goes to show how widespread the issue is. Though...
