How Witches In Brooklyn Dress For a Summer Solstice Ceremony

Photographed by Rebekah Campbell
I’m in a Bushwick apartment looking at an altar. There’s some sensory overload going on: You can taste the fat bar of milk chocolate melting onto a pile of maple leaves. The tang from a metal pocket knife. Each of the 41 spices from the jar of a Turkish jam-like substance called “Sultan’s Paste.” The chalk from a large oyster shell filled with what look like animal bones. The medicinal clay that will soon be stirred into a jug of water, which eight women will pass around and drink. It’s not just an art project with materials plucked from a local botanica—there is a purpose to the pretty bricolage: Kodak-moment pictures of fathers and their daughters from the early ’90s dot a vase of...

Gladiator Sandals Never Go Out Of Style

PARIS, FRANCE - MAY 03: Models walk the runway during Chanel Cruise 2017/2018 Collection at Grand Palais on May 3, 2017 in Paris, France. (Photo by Pascal Le Segretain/Getty Images)

You’d be hard pressed to find a longer reigning footwear trend than gladiator sandals. Not only do they conjure up visions of Greek goddesses and the Roman Empire, but they take us back to original bohemian bombshells à la Pattie Boyd dancing through the summer of love—or more recently, the Insta babes of Coachella rocking bold styles strapped from their ankles to their knees. Karl Lagerfeld featured gladiators in Chanel's latest Cruise show, and Rihanna rocked a killer pair with her most-Instagrammed Met Ball look, putting these classic sandals back in the spotlight again.

4 Non-Tourist Ways To Wear A Fanny Pack

image (8)
Whenever I need styling inspiration (usually at the start of a new season), I tend to scroll through the pages of my favorite online shops, searching for ideas. By now, I've found that all it takes is half an hour of examining the models at Zara and Urban Outfitters to walk away with an entire month's worth of ideas for how to dress beyond my usual T-shirt-and-jeans. This time around, one particular accessory seems to be vying for my attention: the fanny pack. And surprisingly, I don't hate it. I know this is probably the 18th time since 2010 that fashion has tried to make the fanny pack happen — and, let's be honest: most of the time, the trend falls...

A Weird Shoe Is Your Secret To Wonderful Spring Style

00-lede-oddest-shoes
It’s hard to fall in love with an ugly shoe. The thought of wearing Crocs or creepers for a night out can be tough to come around to, especially for those who are passionate about their designer heels. But putting on a weird pair doesn’t have to feel off the mark. Just look to the recent runways: Christopher Kane showed crystal-embellished Crocs during his Spring 2017 show, as Maxwell Osborne and Dao-Yi Chow designed a sporty creeper for their lineup that same season. The Vetements sock shoe remains as popular as ever, while Miuccia Prada put her chic touch on a classic Teva sandal this season. Whether you dress these oddball shoes up or down, they always make a strong...

Street Style Outfits To Copy This Spring

landscape-1493229334-amy-lede

Spring cleaning is a dreadful task, but there's one area of the house we'll always happily attack: the closet. If looking through last year's clothes doesn't spark instant joy (hat tip, Marie Kondo), you don't need to chuck everything and start from scratch. Just focus on spring 2017 trends, find outfit inspiration that grabs your attention, and start mixing with what you've already got.
