Alexis Ren Is The Most Famous Model You’ve Never Heard Of

landscape-1502376475-elle-model-alexis-ren-photo-roy-rochlin
How did 20-year-old model Alexis Ren amass over 10 million Instagram followers in under 500 posts? The California native rose to social media superstardom by sharing a mix of vaguely captioned bikini, bedroom, fitness, and food photos: Writhing on a beach, nestled in hotel linens, stretching sexily, posturing with desserts. Ren's adoring fans flood the comments section with praise and heart-eye emojis, and likes soar to hundreds of thousands. What you won't see on her feed are ads for gummy vitamins, diet tea, or waist trainers. "I just want this to be real. That's my whole thing," she tells me over the phone. "If you're an influencer and that moment is not real for you, then what's the point of it?" It's this...

Ashley Graham Missed The 2016 Met Gala Because She Couldn’t Find A Designer To Dress Her

Getty

"You can't just show up in jeans and a T-shirt"

Ashley Graham is a supermodel who looks incredible every hour of the day. But because she doesn't wear the fashion industry's standard model's size zero, she says she has encountered resistance from the fashion industry. In an interview with New York magazine, Graham said that she had to miss the 2016 Met Gala—because she couldn't get a designer to dress her.

Apparently she had been "on hold" to attend the fancy red carpet event (which means she probably was going to get invited, but was waiting to find out for sure). But she didn't, or couldn't, attend in the end because she couldn't get a designer to work with her in time. "I couldn't get a designer...

More travel! Here, Clauson gives us the rundown on her summer holiday tour and all of her favorite cocktails that go along with it.

CHAMPAGNE IN CANNES “My first trip of the summer was for the amfAR Runway Show during the Cannes Film Festival. When I’m backstage, my drink of choice is a glass of champagne with a straw, so I don’t...

A Korean Model And Street Style Star Shares Her Fashion Rules

01-sohyun
Sohyun Jung is hard to miss. As she breezes into the Vogue offices with her arresting buzz cut, heads turn—a phenomenon casting directors have picked up on. Since becoming a member of the Alexander Wang gang last season, Jung has had a nonstop schedule, and spent last week walking for Hermès’s Resort show and Kenzo’s Parisian Spring 2018 collection. A regular in street style photos, Jung frequently pairs unexpected elements within her outfits—like a vintage leopard-print jacket worn with Adidas track pants and black platform boots—and looks great doing so. Her personal style is all about a laid-back and layered look, a philosophy reflected in the brands she cites as favorites (everything from Korean streetwear labels like Kye to Urban Outfitters to the understated elegance of...

The ‘Super Chill’ Model Who Loves Sharks And Pizza

06-michi-delane.w1024
“I’ve walked for Chanel four or five times, and you never know what you’re going to get,” says Michi (pronounced Mickey, “like the mouse”) Delane. But the model admits that this past season’s runway rocket was the biggest surprise yet. Delane, who arrives to the Cut’s shoot in a Polo Bear sweater, was scouted at a musical festival. Since then, she’s walked for Hermès and Stella McCartney, and starred in Chloé’s latest campaign. Read on for her lightning-round answers to our interview questions. If you were a magazine, what magazine would you be? Vice. If you could speak to animals, which animals would you want to talk to?  Probably a shark. I just feel like they’ve been around for so long and they’ve maintained to be able to survive in...

Kenzo Casts 83 Asian Models For Its Spring 2018 Show

landscape-1498509056-gettyimages-800947316

Inspired by Japanese musician Ryuichi Sakamoto and model Sayoko Yamaguchi, Kenzo showed its men's and women's spring 2018 collections in Paris last night featuring a cast comprised exclusively of models of Asian descent.

"We celebrate two muses, one who represents the modern view of the house and one from its past," designers Carol Lim and Humberto Leon wrote in the show notes of the inspirations. "For both collections we aim to capture the duality of the two figures, we look to the era when they both ruled two distant continents; to Ryuichi's personal flair when questioning the norm, and to Sayoko's ability to mix patterns, prints, silhouettes, and colors."

Nike Features a Transgender Woman Of Color In Its Newest Ad For Pride Month

hbz-nike-index-1498509408
To celebrate Pride Month, Nike cast transgender vogue artist and ballroom dancer Leiomy Maldonado in a new video campaign for its #BeTrue collection. It's the second Nike commercial to feature a transgender athlete after Chris Mosier, the first transgender man to earn a spot on the U.S. men's national team, starred in a video campaign last August. It's a pivotal move for Nike, after the sportswear brand received flack for supporting President Donald Trump during his campaign (more than 60,000 people signed a petition urging Nike to #DumpTrump and to not renew the flagship store's lease at Midtown's Trump Tower). The decision to include a transgender woman of color is part of a larger initiative by Nike to be inclusive; other...
