Victoria’s Secret And Balmain Give A First Look At Their Collaboration

Courtesy Victoria's Secret

Olivier Rousteing teases how the collection was made.

One of the most anticipated features of this year's Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is the VS x Balmain collaboration. Though the lingerie brand and the French fashion house have previously teased what to expect on the runway in Shanghai this year, a new video gives an even closer look at the upcoming collab. The clip shows Balmain's creative director, Olivier Rousteing, in his Parisian design studio, testing out a look from the collection on model Cindy Bruna back in June. (She first walked for VS in 2013.) Although her full ensemble isn't revealed head-to-toe, the footage gives away the signature Balmain design elements included in her look: black leather, studs, statement-making shoulders and a sexy silhouette. Just...

What is the fastest way to get conscripted into the #BalmainArmy? A swipe of lipstick in bright violet, gold-flecked peach, or poison-apple red. Next month, Balmain’s creative director Olivier Rousteing—the boyish, social-savvy designer forever in the center of a model maelstrom—debuts his first-ever capsule collection of lipsticks with L’Oréal Paris. 12 shades. 12 muses. 14 bucks a tube. “The world that I’m building around Balmain, it’s really pop,” the French designer explains in a phone call from Mykonos, where drone videos of infinity pools and swimsuit-clad friends have stoked a Grecian fervor among his 4.6 million fans. (As his Instagram bio proclaims, “THIS IS MY REALITY!”) A collaboration with L’Oréal—another storied Parisian brand, but one decidedly more accessible—fits right in with Rousteing’s mission to provide his...

Beats just unveiled two new custom designs by the French fashion house—Safari (gold metal detailing on tan leather) and Khaki (gold metal with army green leather)—available in the brand's Studio Wireless over-ear headphones and Powerbeats3 Wireless earbuds. Olivier Rousteing Shoots His First Balmain Campaign

Olivier Rousteing/Balmain
At just 24 years old, Olivier Rousteing became Balmain's youngest-ever creative director and the youngest in Paris since Yves Saint Laurent himself. Since his appointment in 2011, Rousteing has been credited with bringing a new era of social media savviness to the historic French fashion house. Now, the young designer is taking his eye for photography beyond the scope of Instagram. For the first time ever, Rousteing stepped behind the lens to photograph Balmain's Fall 2017 ad campaign. Dedicated to the city of Paris, the series of black-and-white photos were shot all over the French capital and feature Balmain Army members, such as Natasha Poly, Lara Stone, Presley Gerber, Ton Heukels, Jon Kortagarena, Marlon Teixeira, Grace Bol, Aleyna Fitzgerald, Alexina Graham,...

Olivier Rousteing may be most-known for dressing his army of It models and Kardashian/Jenner family members, but the Balmain designer is about to cater to an entirely new clientele: ballet dancers. Rousteing has been tapped by dancer and choreographer Sébastien Bertaud to design costumes for an upcoming ballet at the Paris Opera. According to WWD, the Balmain costumes will be worn in “Renaissance,” a four-piece ballet performed by up-and-coming dancers. "To be honest, I was really surprised and moved because, for me, this goes beyond designing clothes for the opera. This project really represents French heritage. Obviously I love the world of pop, but for me, it all goes back to classical dance. I’ve been fascinated with it since I was a...

Balmain, Isabel Marant, and Paco Rabanne Explore New Ground on Paris Fashion Week Day Three

00-holding-pfw-day-3-balmain
Just when you think you know what to expect from Parisian brands like Balmain, Isabel Marant, and Paco Rabanne, the designers pull a 180-degree on you. At Balmain that meant introducing a more casual element into Olivier Rousteing’s over-the-top creations. Meanwhile, at Isabel Marant, the oft-understated designer sent out models in corsets—adding a bit of glamour to her cool creations. And, Julien Dossena went full throttle on Paco Rabanne’s space age-inspirations by covering models in optic white bodysuits and shocking pink tights. Clothing wasn’t the only thing keeping the fashion set on their toes today‚ either. Manish Arora upended ideas about models: Alongside a small dog dyed bright blue, Arora chose a cast that included British performance artist Pandemonia, who’s known for...
