Meet Hari Nef – Model, Actress, Activist, and the First Trans Woman Signed to IMG Worldwide

Sitting in makeup at the Standard East Village for her first shoot, Hari Nef, the 22-year-old transgender model and actress recently signed to IMG Worldwide, is telling us that she’s trying to hang out with Caitlyn Jenner in Los Angeles this summer. “I’m trying to get frozen yogurt with Caitlyn and just talk about girl stuff,” she says. In a few weeks, Nef will be living in L.A. for the first time, working on a high-profile project—she can’t disclose what just yet—that’s sure to launch her further into the cultural forefront. It’s an invitation for visibility she’s happily accepted since the announcement of her signing with IMG—she’s the first transgender model on the agency’s U.S. roster, which includes Gisele Bündchen...

Plus Size Model Compares Different Pairs Size16 Jeans

Between vanity sizing, inaccurate measuring charts at e-retail destinations, and the fact that no two bodies are the same, figuring out what size you are isn’t an easy feat. When you’re plus-size, things get even trickier. Let’s forget, for a moment, that most brands and stores simply stop producing apparel after a size 12. The reality is that a curvier body has, well, more curves. And those curves aren’t something you can easily measure — let alone put into jeans. I will admit that I am simply not a big denim lover. Whether this is due to my affinity for vintage dresses, or whether it’s a distaste cultivated by the sheer unavailability of comfortable plus-size jeans that fit a 50-inch bum and...

Your Favorite ’70s Summer Movies

The '70s are having a major moment in fashion and it's making us feel super nostalgic. While the runways are giving off Woodstock-y vibes (think printed paisley maxi dresses and platform sandals), in real life, we've been feeling the more casual contingent, focusing on ringer tees, denim cutoffs, and shell necklaces. Check out the ways you can steal the summer looks from our favorite retro flicks here. Written by DANIELLE PRESCOD, Writer for Source -

Belly Button Challenge!!

The newest viral challenge asks the question: Can you reach around your back and touch your belly button? It started in China on Weibo — the Chinese equivalent to Twitter — and has been mentioned hundreds of millions of times on both microblogging sites. Most of the participants are young female users. Fitness, nutrition, and psychological experts worry that focusing on a stunt that encourages being extremely skinny is potentially damaging to a person’s psyche. What makes matters worse — being skinny doesn’t make the #bellybuttonchallenge any more doable. Longer arms and flexibility increase a person’s ability to perform the task, as much as having a small waistline.   written by Neal Augenstein, writer for Source –

Nivea Dolls Get Sunburnt to Teach Kids about Sunscreen

To help teach kids the importance of sun block, Nivea made and distributed dolls made of UV sensitive materials that turn red when exposed to the sun without sunscreen. Kids could apply sunscreen (Nivea, if you please) to the dolls so they won’t burn. Teaching kids a valuable lesson, while also offering a distraction for when it’s time to lather them up—kids can apply sunscreen to their dolls, while parents apply it to them. Don’t forget to get an extra bottle of sunscreen for the doll, moms and dads. (Cha ching!) Brought to us by the winners of the 2014 Cannes Mobile Grand Prix for the ad that turns into a kid-tracking bracelet. Source –

Transgenders Are Making Their Own ‘VANITY FAIR’ Covers

Among other wonderful things, Caitlyn Jenner's Vanity Fair cover has sparked some amazing conversations about the visibility of trans people in our society. Crystal of Ramble On, Amazon posted a thoughtful, moving essay about the importance of visibility for all trans people, not just the ones who exemplify our cultural ideal of beauty. She writes: A lot of people have explained it better than me recently, but a large contingent of the trans community has engaged in a lot of dialogue the past few days, ever since Vanity Fair announced their Caitlyn Jenner's cover story, most of which revolves around the idea that the world only seems to embrace us if we're wealthy enough or lucky enough to adhere to white,...

Will Google Photos Become Fashion’s New Favorite App?

Until Google can offer us computerized pants—a real thing in development with Levi’s—we have Google Photos to keep us busy. And that it will. The new app launched today offers a full suite of possibilities, allowing for more complex commands and options than one might find in their Camera Roll or on iPhoto. The software allows you to store all the photos you take on your phone; search through them with precise keywords; and make them into movies, animations, collages, and “stories,” as Google calls them, which are sort of like digital scrapbooks. Then you can share the above in huge batches using an auto-generated link. The search function might be Google Photos’ most addicting feature. The app allows you to...
