This Clothing Company Is Celebrating Individuality In The Most Awesome Way

We love that we’re living in a time where the fashion industry is expanding its definition of what it is to be a model and the culture as a whole is expanding its definition of what it means to be beautiful. We love these things and so of COURSE we love the #IAmUnique campaign, spearheaded by Unique Vintage, which calls on all women to “embrace their individuality and feel confident in the skin they’re in,” and is “featuring influential fashion and body positivity bloggers celebrating the differences that make them as individuals feel beautiful.” Unique Vintage is using some of our absolutely favorite body positivity models for this campaign and in their new fall lookbook, including Amina Mucci,  Marie Southard Ospina, and...

Sofia Mechetner, The 14-year-old Dior Model With Her Very Own Cinderella Story

제목 없음-1
Sofia Mechetner, walking in the Dior show in July 2015 You probably don’t know her name but you’ve likely heard about Sofia Mechetner over the last few days. She’s the 14-year-old model who opened Dior’s latest Haute Couture show wearing a sheer dress and hit the headlines in the process. Many believe she is too young to be a model, let alone for a world-famous fashion house, and that’s before you take into account the risqué garment choice. Recent attempts to regulate the risk of child exploitation in the modelling industry have seen the British Fashion Council and Council of Fashion Designers of America ban models under the age of 16 from the London and New York Fashion Week catwalks. Yet the...

Seeing These Models Strip Down and Get Real Will Inspire You to No End

You don't need us to tell you that every woman has insecurities, whether they're related to how she feels in a swimsuit or the way she looks in her clothes. What youdo need is to see these curvy models reveal their own — and then strip down for the camera anyway. Project WomanKind is a video series launched by five models, including Margaret Macpherson, Jessica Vander Leahy, Olivia Langdon, Sophie Sheppard, and Stefania Ferrario, with one inspiring goal: total body positivity and acceptance. While these brave ladies pose in their lingerie for a shoot, that's not our favorite part of the six short films. Instead, we're more interested in listening to the models open up, sharing what they've learned about the industry,...

ITALY is said to be announcing a €20 million initiative to strengthen its relationship with the US regarding textiles, fashion and leather goods exports. The country has been encouraged by its  increasing exports to the US (which last year  totalled $5.6 billion), WWD reports, and  hopes to profit from "the ever-influential  youth culture" since 34 per cent of the US  population of 315 million is under 25.   The move is a major boost for the Made In Italy brand, which has been used since the...

How To Turn A Good Idea Into The Next Big Thing

We all have ideas. But only some of us make them a reality—and thereby change the world that much more. Three successful women weigh in on how to turn brainstorms into lightning bolts. Who hasn't at some point had what seems like a game- changing idea? And what makes the difference between letting that idea go by and eventually giving a talk on it at TED? A dinner held during the TEDWomen 2015 conference last May brought together people who are turning grand ideas into reality, and they offered insights into how they've made that happen. Many stressed that the first step is recognizing a need, then finding the confidence to think you can solve it. "It's the risk takers who...
