Rebels, Romantics, and Man Repellers Agree: Laurence Dacade’s New Booties Are a Can’t-Miss for Fall

When the breadth of this fall’s trends ranges from romantic goths to prim-and-punky Lolitas, chances are you’ll find yourself staring into your reflection, questioning, “Who am I?” more than once in the coming months. Instead of having one go-to boot, you might need several—the good news is that Laurence Dacade’s new booties, launching exclusively with Bergdorf Goodman, will help. Each of the five new styles is a reimagining of Dacade’s best-selling silhouette, a block-heel shape called the Pete, in a wide range of patterns and textures. (There will also be a sixth style created in collaboration with the Man Repeller’s Leandra Medine.) For the days you aspire to Janis Joplin levels of bohemian flair, try out the embroidered black leather offering....

The Best Street Style From Kiev Fashion Days Spring 2016

If there is one country that is showing its support for homegrown creatives, it is Ukraine. For the past three days, troops of fashion's bringhtest gathered around Kiev's center to pay sartorial homage to young designers in their sartorial standouts, from a star-branded leather coat by newcomer-to-watch Marianna Senchina to the 19-year-old wunderkind Anna karenina, who wore her own label, Anna K; model Nadiia Shapoval, who sported a Bevza pantsuit; and Bibi Bevza, who was her line's own best advertisement in a sweater of her own design. Here, see the best street style of Mercedes-Benz Kiev Fashion Days Spring 2016.   Written by LIANA SATENSTEIN, writer for vogue.com Source – http://www.vogue.com/slideshow/13332129/kiev-fashion-week-street-style/...

Thist Is The Inspiration Behined Fall’s Most Covetable Fragrances

landscape-1441392602-fragrance-index
The inspirations behind the season's most covetable eaus—including surprise debuts from storied houses—offer a peek into the hearts and minds of our favorite fashion designers.   MIU MIU BY MIU MIU Even the flacon for Miu Miu's long-awaited first eau de parfum embodies the scent's girly-with-a-twist vibe: Its opaque blue color, inspired by "the optimism of early '60s cinema," is playfully offset with a transparent red cap resembling a lollipop. The fragrance spotlights lily of the valley, the "beautiful and joyful" flower that Miuccia Prada celebrated in the brand's fall 2011 collection. Because the bloom itself cannot be distilled, jasmine and rose were combined with synthetic green notes to create an abstract lily-of-the-valley effect, the sophistication of which is "roughened up" with an...

6 Fashion Brands Worthy of the Colbert Bump

1111
Stephen Colbert takes the reins at the Late Show tomorrow night, kicking things off with an all-star lineup, including Scarlett Johansson, Amy Schumer, andGeorge Clooney. We’ll leave Colbert’s famously witty quips to our colleagues in Vogue.com’s culture department; what we’ll be watching for is what Johansson, et al will be wearing. Back in Colbert’s Comedy Central days, the term “Colbert bump” was coined for the heightened sense of awareness an appearance on his show could bring. Considering he’s got a much wider audience now, we’ve selected six brands we’d like to see stars wear on his show. While these labels are fairly well known in the fashion world, they haven’t quite cracked the celebrity market. Before you ask why getting...

Please Let’s Stop Wearing Leggings As Pants

gallery-1441210223-elle-girls01
I sat in the backseat of my parents Honda—age six—offended by the argument my nine-year-old sister had written out for my parents: "Why I Should Be Able to Wear Pants to Synagogue: An essay by Sara Friedlander." It was perfectly executed. "First, they're not jeans, but made from velvet," she began, "therefore they are fancy."  She wanted to wear a pair of deep purple, elastic waist leggings to shul instead of our usual knee length black dresses. "Second, it's 1993 and women and men should be equal. My dad, Lee Friedlander, wears pants to synagogue so I should be able to as well." It was a work of elementary-age egalitarian advocacy, and I could not for the life of me understand it. I lived for my patent leather...
