INTRODUCING SSENSE BRIDAL (SSENSE)

What is love? Is it moving in together at age 18, despite skepticism from some friends and family? Perhaps it’s the marriage that lasts 30-plus years. Or, actually, it’s when the third marriage, struck up well into middle age, sticks this time. Love is the connection between two air signs. It’s the straightforward pleasure of sharing dinner and a movie. Love is the first joke cracked after a fight. The first kiss after a moment of conflict. Love is transformation. We took the launch of SSENSE Bridal as a chance to speak about love (rather than forever hold our peace). In particular, we enlisted five real couples to investigate the meaning of marriage itself—to talk about the future of an old fashioned idea...

Battle of the Summer Style Staples (SSENSE)

Summer comes once a year but its regularity does little to diminish the accompanying anxiety about how to dress. Sweat. Pit stains. Swimwear. Exposed body parts. There are a lot of factors to consider when contending with the vulnerability of summer outfits. Salute to the goths who refuse to bend but for the rest of us choices must be made. With the hottest days of summer 2023 looming, these garments start conversations and draw divisive opinions. Are bucket hats only appropriate for fishing trips, or are they actually sick? Are you willing to bare foot flesh in fisherman sandals, or do you prefer them with socks? Which sunscreen suggests you’re truly thoughtful about protecting your body and the environment? It’s time...

12 Of Kendall Jenner’s Best Vintage Looks To Date (Vogue UK)

Kendall Jenner – along with the likes of her older sister Kim Kardashian, Bella Hadid and Rihanna – has long been an avid champion of vintage fashion, amassing an impressive collection of rare designer pieces over the years. As with many of her celebrity peers, her obsession began with Jean Paul Gaultier, with the model seen sporting a number of the French designer’s most collectable pieces from the late ’90s and early Noughties. Since then, Jenner has branched out further with her vintage buys, with the likes of Prada, Stella McCartney-era Chloé and Comme des Garçons all making an appearance. Integrating her archival pieces seamlessly into her wardrobe, she’s been spotted wearing pre-loved fashion everywhere from friends’ weddings to the beach. Never afraid to put...

Chopova Lowena’s It-Book Of Summer 2023 Stars Chlöe Sevigny (Vogue UK)

Emma Chopova and Laura Lowena are turning publishers. The British-Bulgarian duo behind Chopova Lowena have released a new book, Conversations with Angels, that is a retelling of Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale The Snow Queen by the artist and poet Precious Okoyomon. Starring Chlöe Sevigny as the titular queen, and photographed by Charlotte Wales, the book uses looks from the designers’ autumn/winter 2023 collection as a jumping-off point to tell this beloved children’s tale. Fashion’s love affair with the literary world has been raging for a few years. Loewe’s autumn/winter 2021 show notes included an excerpt of Danielle Steel’s novel The Affair and Proenza Schouler’s autumn/winter 2023 show featured diary entries by Ottessa Moshfegh on the soundtrack (read by Sevigny, as it happens). Just last month, Pierpaolo Piccioli cited Hanya Yanagihara’s A Little Life as an inspiration for his Valentino men’s spring/summer 2024 collection, going so far as...

Mermaidcore Madness: An SS23 Trend Spotligh (SSENSE)

jij
It’s Pisces season and across the fashion universe, the water sign energy is hitting whether you’re a horoscope head or an astrology denier. After all, water is the principal chemical component of the human body, which means that no one is immune to the ebbs and flows of this trend. “I have an immense love for the sea,” model Kiko Mizuhara said as she explained her first outfit in a recent “7 Days 7 Looks” video for Vogue Japan. She wore a swirly enamel shell necklace and matching burgundy crochet halter top, both by the very aquatic Spanish brand Gimaguas. Mizuhara is a city girl, but this season her style is shifting towards a more bohemian, mermaid-meets-land aesthetic. Nothing says mermaidcore like The Little Mermaid herself Halle Bailey on...

The capsule, consisting of 11 pieces and available for purchase on July 7, features pink camo-print miniskirts, jeans with chain belts, cropped denim jackets, and baby tees that scream “aughts.” For its campaign, Blumarine and Marc Jacobs Heaven enlisted photographer Petra Collins and stylist Lotta Volkova to shoot and dress a cast of models inside a typical American high school. Amid rows of lockers, they clutch their tiny pink purses decorated with bedazzled “B” accents close to them; in the gym, they hold onto silvery pom-poms. “I remember lusting after Blumarine...

Meet Georgina Treviño, the Designer Dripping Beyoncé Out in Custom Jewelry (W Magazine)

In a world that yearns for novelty and encourages single use, Georgina Treviño sees the old and discarded as precious materials. Everything has value, according to the artist and jeweler: A tiny, rusted tin can transforms into a repurposed keychain; a row of vintage watches can be reworked into a wearable choker; a throwaway mechanical cockroach—inspired by the surprise guest who showed up on the Met Gala carpet this year—becomes a bedazzled figurine. “All the things I see on the street can be jewelry: a piece of trash, a straw, a pen,” Treviño tells me over Zoom from her studio in San Diego. Behind her, a giant gold watch lurks on the wall over her shoulder, accompanied by a red bedazzled face mask she later...

29 ONE-PIECE SWIMSUITS YOU CAN WEAR ON AND OFF THE BEACH (NYLON)

gdgg
Bathing suit season is in full swing, and if you haven’t previously considered picking up a one-piece suit, then consider this your calling. Playful, inventive styling is definitely the new way of dressing, and bathing suits are no exception. Whether it be sportswear mixed with formalwear (see David Koma or Nina Ricci) or underpinnings combined with suiting (see any recent Miu Miu runway show), the more unconventional, the cooler the look. When it comes to swimwear, the one-piece suit makes a great double for a fitted bodysuit. A few styles that make for a super versatile suit are bustier-like underwires, floral appliqués, rash guard silhouettes, or classic scoop necklines, to name just a few. Pair these with flouncy maxi skirts, relaxed...
