29-nicopanda-glitter.w1600.h1064
Photo: Vivien Killilea/Getty Images Because there's no such thing as a dumb beauty question, we're reviving our beauty Q&A series. Question: I want to wear a ton of glitter and confetti on my face for Halloween. Like old Ke$ha, glitter-terrorist-level amounts. How do I do it without getting a rash or getting it on everything? Answer: Don’t worry — glitter is a Stage 5 clinger. It’s going to stick to you more than you’re going to want to stick to it. Let’s start first with what kind of glitter to buy: Do not scrimp by going to your craft store and buying craft glitter. This is especially important if you are going to stick it anywhere near your face, since craft...

A Woman Froze To Death Doing Cryotherapy

1445882392-capture-decran-2015-10-26-a-015935-pm
The popular treatment gets a real horror story. Cryotherapy, the popular beauty treatment where you expose your body to subzero temperatures (with the promise of allegedly smoother skin and boosted metabolism minutes later), now has a tragedy associated with it. The body of Chelsea Ake-Salvacion, a 24-year-old aesthetician at Las Vegas salon Rejuvenice, was found in a cryotheraphy chamber last week, the Washington Post reports. Medical examiners believe she died in seconds, having "frozen to death," according to her family.  INSTAGRAM Ake-Salvacion was alone closing shop, a friend told local news outlet KSNV. "[She] then did go into the machine and apparently did not turn off." That machine's temperature gets as low as -240 degrees Fahrenheit. Ake-Salvacion's body was found inside of it more than 10 hours later. https://twitter.com/ReciteNews/status/658556337912090624 Cyrotheraphy is supposed to be a brief, three-minute...

The Secret To Natural-Looking Contour

Untitled-1
"Don't go overboard on yourself." https://youtu.be/aYO87yMEAro As recent contouring trends like tontouring (that's contouring with self-tanner), clown contouring, and henna contouring have proven, the face-sculpting beauty technique isn't going anywhere. While those newer methods and the Kardashians have promoted a heavy-handed application, The Estée Edit has introduced a new way to contour that looks as natural as possible. The exclusive video above, featuring the brand's Global Beauty Contributor, model, and street style star Irene Kim, shows a step-by-step process for achieving subtle yet effective shadows and highlights using the Sculpt Face Kit finished off with the Shape + Sculpt Eye Kit. Read on for more beauty tips from Kim, including how rainbow hair affects your makeup, why applying eyeshadow with fingers is a good idea, and which makeup is most selfie friendly. Get your green juice ready. Step aside, kale, and make way for the latest superfood star: Moringa. Also known as the drumstick tree because of the shape of its seed pods, the moringa tree is native to India but can be found in many other tropical and subtropical areas, as well. Almost every part of the tree can be used for something, but the leaves and drumstick pods are what's most commonly used in food and traditional medicine. It's no wonder why: According to the NGO Trees for Life, gram for gram, moringa leaves contain: 4 times the vitamin A found in carrots 7 times the vitamin C found in oranges 4 times the calcium found in milk 3 times the potassium found in bananas 2 times the protein found in yogurt It gets better! Moringa leaves can be eaten raw, cooked like kale or dried and ground into a powder; the drumstick pods, which are found in all...

The New No-Knife Face-Lift

landscape-1445277578-hbz-facelift-index
What's old is new again in the world of cosmetic surgery. The Silhouette Instalift, the latest youth-enhancing treatment to receive FDA approval, is an updated version of what you may remember as the "thread lift" from the '90s. Historically deemed disappointing, unscientific, and even barbaric (more on why later), the procedure requires doctors to place and pull threads under the skin to lift everything from the neck and chin to the cheekbones. Now, thanks to innovative techniques and high-tech threads, it's getting a second chance from doctors and their patients who want a face-lift without downtime or surgery. Promising to painlessly lift sagging skin and deliver natural-looking results, Instalift is a relatively straightforward procedure. Doctors use a fine needle to puncture...
