8 Fall Style Updates You Haven’t Tried Yet

081816_heresanidea_lead

The thrill of a new purchase lasts only so long. You found your coat, bag, or bootsof the season—now what? Keep the adrenaline rush going with some back-to-cool reinvention. Give your coat or moto jacket a luxe touch with a faux-fur collar, which we took from the Tod's and Jason Wu runways. Indulged in a new cross-body? Shorten the strap to a ribcage-hugging length; done right, it can nearly double as a necklace.
We compiled a list of eight supremely easy style tweaks that require minimal effort, but achieve maximum, high-impact results (no wardrobe overhaul necessary). From supersizing your cuffs to cinching your puffer, incorporate these small but scene-stealing updates into your wardrobe and—boom—getting dressed is sure to feel fun again.

Five Models Reflect on Maria Grazia Chiuri’s Dior Debut

359741
When a new creative director takes the helm of a house – as has so often been the case recently – a veritable frenzy of excitement surrounds their inaugural collection. Maria Grazia Chiuri's S/S17 debut for Christian Dior was a prime example of such anticipation, and her uniquely feminine vision found its synergy with the house's storied codes through a fresh new incarnation of the Dior woman. "I strive to be attentive and open to the world and to create fashion that resembles the women of today," she said "fashion that corresponds to their changing needs, freed from the stereotypical categories of 'masculine/feminine', 'young/not so young', 'reason/emotion.'" What resulted was a collection that paid tribute to the history of Dior...

Fashion Photographer Chen Man Goes Pink In The Peninsula

111
Working with vivid colors in dramatic, sweeping, compositions, Beijing-born fashion photographer Chen Man introduced a bold, contemporary aesthetic that, in China, redefined the field. For a series commissioned by The Peninsula Hotel's breast cancer-awareness initiative, "Peninsula in Pink," Man created 10 pieces in her distinctive style—one for display in each of Peninsula Hotel's 10 locations worldwide for the duration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Visually diverse overall, the works in the series, titled "Nao Nao," share one particular element: two pink dots, forming a colon. According to Man, these pink dots are not only symbolic of breasts, but also of the punctuation preceding a conversation. “With this collection, I wished to celebrate distinctive interpretations of beauty and power, while at the same...

velvet-dresses
Not into Halloween costumes? Try a velvet dress instead! We've been feeling the look since fall was a glimmer in our eye, and now that the weather is finally cooperating, it's velvet fashion FTW. Plus, unlike some fall statements (faux-fur coats), you don't necessarily need to shell out hundreds to make the look your own. This weekend, if you're heading to dinner, or a movie, or a Halloween party where you can get away with a little bit of face paint or a festive accessory as your costume, a velvet dress is the perfect thing to slip on. One look at Anna...

Phillip Nuveen strives to “obtain the unobtainable” with his handcrafted miniature models – which require a steady hand, painstaking engineering and the patience of a saint. “I think there is something so captivating about how the human mind processes scale.
