It’s never been more fashionable than it is now to need a little extra assistance with your swimming abilities. Why, you ask? Because adult floaties are officially a thing, at least according to one designer at Sydney Fashion Week in Australia. Activewear brand Duskii just completed its runway presentation on Wednesday and the must-see show was rife with not only sporty bikinis and brightly patterned one-piece swimsuits, but also matching water wings. That’s right: Your eyes are not deceiving you. We’re talking about those cut-off-your-circulation, inflatable inner tubes for your arms that you remember so fondly (or not so fondly) from your childhood.
The sporty Duskii swimwear show was full of whimsical accessories in addition to the floaties. But the brand has yet to confirm whether they will all be for sale when the collection becomes shoppable next season. Some models strutted their stuff with retro-inspired 3-D swim caps, others carried drinks on inflatable serving trays, and yet more rocked the catwalk with inner tubes around their midsections. The runway was, basically, a pool party we all wished we could be a part of.
But might we just suggest being extra-diligent with the sunblock if you choose to indulge in this particular water accessory? If you’re not careful, you might emerge from your vacation with some stellar tan lines on those sun-kissed, floatie-sporting arms of yours.
