The Best Hair In Belgium Belongs To a 6-Year-Old Rapunzel

It’s no secret that beauty’s biggest street style trends belong to the smallest stars: North West and her topknots, Blue Ivy and her braids, and Suri Cruise and her shoulder-grazing hair. And now, another genetically blessed child is stepping into the arena.

Meet 6-year-old Belgian Lou Mungiele, whose hair comes straight out of a fairy tale. She and her curls made waves on the anonymous 23-year-old stylist @YouthSmhr’s Instagram a few weeks ago with a Yeezy-inspired athleisure look, accessorized with none other than her teddy, that garnered nearly 2,500 likes.

According to Lou’s mother, Gisele Mungiele, who is half Congolese and half Belgian, her daughter’s hair reaches 20.5 inches long. (To give you a sense of just how long that is, the nonprofit organization Locks of Love requires hair donations to be at least 10 inches long.) “People say always, ‘Wow, amazing! Absolutely fabulous!’ ” says Mungiele. “Some people [even] ask me if it’s a wig.”

To care for this larger-than-life mane, every week Mungiele brushes and combs Lou’s hair—“otherwise it is catastrophic,” she says. For hydration, she uses L’Oréal’s Mythic Oil and then rinses it out with Garnier shampoo. In the morning, she puts Lou’s hair into pigtails to help contain the volume. Other looks she loves include a side pony and top bun (North West, take note).

Naturally, Lou’s favorite Disney character is Rapunzel—and for good reason. Turns out she possesses a strong aversion to scissors; cutting any of it, at least for right now, is out of the question, says Mungiele. “Once, we trimmed it 10 centimeters, and she was so sad, I had to bribe her [with a present].” True princess hair, indeed.
