The true key to style is being comfortable — metaphorically — in your clothes. The suit doesn’t make the (wo)man, the (wo)man makes the suit, you follow? It’s about confidence. I don’t know how comfortable latex is, but Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner look damn good in it. On the other hand, I doknow how comfortable athleisure is, as do Kith fans like Rihanna, the Hadids and Hailey Baldwin.
Today, however, we are going to talk about being comfortable in your clothes in the literal sense. With the rise of activewear, an increase in genderless lines, the hoodie being the ultimate “It” item and the mainstream-ification of streetwear, we have found ourselves smack dab in what could potentially be your coziest, flyest winter ever. Do people even know that Vetements makes floral dresses, not just oversize sweatshirts and long-ass track pants? And despite the disastrous presentation, you really mean to tell me you don’t want to try to pull off that cream sweatpant and sweatshirt Yeezy Season 4 combo? Lies.
Throughout fashion month, we saw celebs, editors, off-duty models and beloved bloggers wearing easy pants that, just a few seasons ago, were only considered appropriate for lounging around the house. As we transition into winter, cozy is in — and we are definitely not complaining. Read on for a few of our favorite styles, available for you to pick up right now.
SILKY PAJAMA PANTS
Did you see the For Restless Sleepers show in Milan? If not, imagine that you and your friends were besties with Rihanna and had a house in Tulum that you never left — you’d basically need the entire line. Between sleepwear-inspired runway collections and the enduring slip dress trend, it’s time to get onboard with pajama-esque looks. For some inspiration, check out Elizabeth Olsen’s ensemble at the Kenzo x H&M presentation or Teyana Taylor in the DKNY front row during NYFW.
Fleur du Mal PJ pants, $245, available at Fleur du Mal.
Kim Kardashian shut the game down in her classic Adidas tearaways in during Paris Fashion Week, but she isn’t the only one getting sporty: Alexander Wang showed tearaway pants in his sneakerhead-inspired spring 2015 collection, Rihanna wore tearaways to her FENTY Puma launch party, and Gigi Hadid regularly opts for snapless pairs on her off-duty days.
Adidas Originals Supergirl Track Pant, $60, available at Urban Outfitters.
No, we did not make this up. Cashmere pants exist and they are cozy as hell. Do yourself a favor and consider overhauling your complete winter wardrobe so that it only consists of head-to-toe sweater dressing.
The Cashmere Sweatpant, $140, available at Everlane.
Overalls are still very much A Thing, but the coziest of the one-piece options this winter is the full jumper. We saw them on the DKNY runway during NYFW, as well as on Kylie Jenner — perhaps while she was casually realizing things. You didn’t wear onesie pajamas until you were 12 years old for no reason, after all.
Black Crane quilted jumper, $230, available at Need Supply Co.
