The designer joined the label in 2012.
Alexander Wang is set to leave his post as creative director of Balenciaga, WWD reports. After hiring the young designer to replace Nicolas Ghesquière in December 2012, the French label’s parent company, Kering, has decided not to renew his contract. According to the report, the spring/summer 2016 collection shown at Paris Fashion Week in October will be Wang’s last.
Kering’s search for a successor is apparently only in “the early stages,” and insiders guess that the company might opt for a more unknown talent. Meanwhile, we can only assume that Wang will continue to focus on his highly successful, eponymous line here in New York City.
