max-1512081454

The most wonderful time of the year has finally arrived. After all, fingers will be forced front and center whilst cupping mugs of sweet cocoa and clinking champagne glasses with fellow merry makers. So before stepping under the mistletoe, dash to your nearest nail salon and turn to these six playful manicures for inspiration. Remember: It’s 2017, and this isn’t your average nail art. A Colorful Yarn: Angela Missoni On The Iconic Brand

hbz-angela-missoni-00-index-1511988244
Her earlobes weighed down by enough charms to fill two bracelets, her hair in a topknot, Angela Missoni is claustrophobic in cities, alive with enthusiasm, lit by clarity. For 20 years the creative director of Missoni, she’s turned the family-owned company into a global luxury brand without forfeiting its intimate authenticity. “I’m not looking for perfection,” she says, “but harmony.” I’ve been in thrall to her family from the first time I saw a Missoni pullover in a magazine in 1967. Every possible color was joined into a lacy motif of faintly heraldic points as scalloped as fish scales, as feathered as bird wings. The colors said everything was possible, the lacy scales suggested that one could transcend human form, the...

She also penned a letter to the reality star pleading with her to stop wearing the real thing

Pamela Anderson has never shied away when it comes to voicing her opinion on fur and animal rights, regularly calling out other celebs in an attempt to change their ways. Now she’s got her eye on Kim Kardashian. It’s emerged that Anderson sent a bright coral faux fur jacket to America’s reality queen, along with a personal letter pleading with her to ditch the fur. “As we all ponder New Year’s resolutions,” the actress wrote, “won’t you consider making a meaningful one to stop wearing fur?” You’d be setting a trendy, compassionate example.” Anderson references Gisele Bundchen’s recent cruelty-free cover of Vogue Paris and lists a whole host of...

Shut Up And Speed Over To Rihanna drive

Photography: Sebastian Faena

While we already know it's Rihanna's world and we're just living in it, turns out if you inhabit a particular street in Barbados where Robyn Fenty spent her childhood, you're also now living on Rihanna Drive. Too blessed.

The nation of Barbados honored their cultural ambassador by renaming the Westbury New Road, the street she grew up on, after her, and to unveil "Rihanna Drive" yesterday (which happened to also be Barbados Independence Day) the singer showed up in sunshine yellow and shut the whole situation down. I mean, your fave could never.

Meet Ziemba, The Perfumer And Performance Artist With Wonderfully Baroque Style

01-story-Ziemba
The lineup for MoMA PS1’s recent Sunday Session, a series of immersive performances titled “Spittle of the Moon,” featured work from a wide range of artists, including synthesis experimentalists MSHR and electronic R&B duo Dey. Sartorially speaking, however, it was Ziemba (aka Rene Kladzyk) and her frequent collaborator and sister Anna’s performance that stood out the most—the two performed an excerpt of Ardis, their futuristic, literally fragrant musical (Ziemba’s consistently incorporating scents into her work) in handmade costumes that can best be described as Baroque, which perfectly contrasted with the performance’s otherworldly subject matter. Ziemba’s work is grounded in her background studying feminist geography—her newly released song and video for “El Paso” explores the underground history of the U.S./Mexico border—but the Brooklyn-based composer is equally interested...

The Prague Christmas Market Every year, the Prague Christmas market sets up shop in the magnificent main square in the Old Town. Gathered at the feet of a giant, twinkling Christmas tree, the stalls let Czech handicrafts shine, offering a variety of wooden puppets, handmade jewelry and the regional specialty vánocvka, a kind of braided brioche with raisins. However, it's the procession of Saint Nicholas - accompanied by an angel and a devil - that really draws in the crowds, as...
