Pride all day, every day

Not only are more artists of color being recognized, but several out musicians and songwriters have been nominated, giving us hope that the Recording Academy is working toward better inclusivity and visibility in the industry.

We’re not the only ones noticing these changes. In fact, Sarah Kate Ellis, president and CEO of GLAAD, said in a statement that “it is exciting to see groundbreaking LGBTQ artists like Lady Gaga, Kesha, Justin Tranter, Kehlani, and Shane McAnally recognized on the music industry’s largest stage.” She continued:

They represent so many talented LGBTQ music artists who don’t receive the same recognition despite critical acclaim and widespread popularity…...

“It’s a capsule collection where we will express a more functional side of the brand, while remaining faithful to the atmosphere of contemporary chic that is part of its DNA,” Valli told WWD.
This isn't the first time Valli has dabbled in sportswear. He collaborated with Moncler Gamme Rouge, a ten-year partnership that ended this year with a final ballerina-inspired collection. His eponymous Fall 2017 runway featured Nike leggings styled with his signature couture shapes.

Glenn Martens, the head designer of Parisian brand Y/Project, is sitting pretty at the moment with a bustling clothing line creating fashion pandemonium and clamor amongst industry veterans. At the moment, the fashion world is quickly approaching a new dawn, an era where fashion is less about formality and more about approachability—clothes you can wear day in and day out. Martens, who first cut his teeth at Jean Paul Gaultier, has been building collections at Y/Project based on the key premise that his clothes would sell and actually be worn—a forward-thinking fete that is paying off well. Designer Lisa Marie Fernandez called out the model

Plagiarism in the fashion industry has become a major concern for designers over the past few years. However, it now appears that the issue is not just solely stemming from fast fashion brands or affecting only the smaller designers. Earlier this month, model Emily Ratajkowski debuted her first fashion design endeavor, Inamorata Swimwear—and it seems that some of those designs may not have been hers. According to Business of Fashion, just one day after the November 16 launch, Ratajkowski received a cease-and-desist letter from fashion designer Lisa Marie Fernandez, claiming that two of her six designs too closely resemble those of Fernandez from years before. Fernandez, whose namesake collection is best known for playful and feminine...
