"I'm usually a Thanksgiving dress person, because let's be honest—skinny jeans and Thanksgiving dinner don't get along—but this year I'm switching it up with a jumpsuit. The key here: a drawstring waist that can be loosened with each helping of pie." — Gena Kaufman, ELLE.com Social Media Director

Veteran Trump Staffer Hope Hicks Wears A High-Fashion Tuxedo At State Banquet In Japan

shutterstock

The 29-year-old communications director continues to be an enigma.

Hope Hicks has made a career out of being the only subtle person in the Trump administration. Perhaps that’s why the 29-year-old communications director thought she might blend in by choosing a tuxedo for a state banquet hosted by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at the Akasaka Palace on Monday night. While Hicks may have been surrounded by a crowd of old men in tuxes, she’s never stood out more—even upstaging First Lady Melania Trump, who wore a red Valentino gown for the occasion. Hicks stepped up the traditional tux with an oversized bow-tie, adding a smokey eye and a pink lip for an extra layer of glamour, making the night look more like a scene out of Ocean’s Eight than a...

Balenciaga Makes The Most With Demna Gvasalia’s ‘It’ Accessories

gettyimages-845849922-1510000106
Trends and "it" items rule the fashion conversation—usually because the thing everyone is talking about is also the thing everyone wants to buy. Nothing proves this more than the latest Lyst Index ranking of the hottest and best-selling brands, which places Demna Gvasalia’s Balenciaga just ahead of Alessandro Michele’s Gucci as number one this year. It’s an interesting rivalry: the two houses could not be more different aesthetically (Michele’s retro maximalism is a completely different vibe from Gvasalia’s awkward proportions), but what they have in common is a stable of items that are must-haves for street style stars and editors alike. Gucci, which was previously in the top spot, has been on a role for the past few years, especially with its accessories...

Drake Has A Custom Prada Wardrobe For His New Tour

Courtesy of Prada

Sadly no rompers though :(

We all know how obsessed Drake is with Stone Island – the rapper loves it so much that he even has an $100k chain made to look like its logo. While we weren’t surprised that he chose to wear the brand for the UK leg of his tour, one that we didn’t think he would team up with is Prada. The Italian house has created a custom wardrobe for his “The Boy Meets World Tour” which is now heading to Australia and New Zealand. Pulling from Prada’s SS18 menswear show – that was a collision of rompers, comic prints and bumbags – the custom wardrobe features t-shirts and vests decorated by black and white comic prints with each of the pieces labelled with “BMWT Special Edition by Prada.” The...

When in doubt, don’t be afraid to be slightly under-dressed… …But if you’re wearing something super special, don’t be afraid to be over-dressed. Just be your fabulous self. If I walk into a room and I’m in an amazing vintage dress and everybody’s in jeans and blazers, you’ve just got to own it. You’ve got to kind of adapt to whatever situation you’re in. You can’t just be like, “Oh, my God, I’m over-dressed.” Don’t say that....

Odely Teboul Strikes Out With A Kitschy, Glamourous Solo Collection For Lou de Betoly

lou-de-betoly-1

Odely Teboul (of Augustine Teboul fame) is branching out with her own collection, which captures the grime and glamour of Berlin.

French-born, Berlin-based designer Odely Teboul launched her semi-eponymous brand today. “Lou de Betoly” has a deeper meaning beyond just being an anagram of the designers name;  “deux bêtes au lit” (say it out loud and you’ll get it) translates as “two beasts in a bed”. Speaking to Tagesspiegel, Teboul explained that she sees the two beasts as a metaphor for “the inner struggle of every human being”. Her inspiration for Lou de Betoly is drawn from human experience. Her website lists her primary interests: Chaos, Nostalgia, Decadence, Extravagance, Surrealism, and Onerism — in that order. A self-described “aristocratic punk”, Teboul...
