You Will Have Opinions About These Leveled-Up Flip Flops

landscape-1506007894-gettyimages-845463216-indexfixes

While a podiatrist once ranked flip-flops the second-to-worst summer shoe (foot-health-wise) and any city-dweller can tell you wearing them on the street is basically asking for a staph infection, for spring, designers are like, "Hold my beer." That is their prerogative, but here, we've collected some souped-up examples—platforms! beading!—to help you form your own opinion on this most unlikely trend.

You will find that this slideshow is ordered by descending outlandishness with full-length shots, followed by closeups of the advertised leveled-up flip-flops. Here, we begin with Rihanna's take on the surfer-y Havaianas—but with a heel and a surfboard leash functioning as an ankle strap.

Fashion Week’s Best Lip And Lid Combos

list-lede-1506105857

Nothing goes together quite like a wink and a smile, which is why makeup artists at New York Fashion Week teamed high-octane eyes with barely-there lips, or contrasted loud mouths with lid looks that barely whispered. Here, 7 ways to achieve the perfect beauty balance from backstage.

1  Metallic Pout + Flushed Lids “A face like a cherry blossom” is how makeup artist Erin Parsons described the flashy crimson lip at Bibhu Mohapatra. Eyes were washed with blush and a bit of white highlighter on the inner corners. While Parson’s layered a red lip pencil with metallic powder to catch the light on the runway, Maybelline New York Color Sensational Matte Metallics Lipstick in Hot Lava offers a similar effect in...

At Bottega Veneta, Real Men Carry Clutches

gettyimages-852144154-1506162220

There was some serious It Girl ammo at Bottega Veneta, with Kendall, Gigi, Bella, Adwoa, Kaia, Presley, Hailey, Candice, and Emily Ratajkowski (ciao!) walking in the 10 am show.

But the star-studded lineup wasn’t the only talking point on Tomas Meier’s Spring 2018 runway. The collection involved a heavy dose of Millennial Pink, along with its cousin, Unicorn Purple (you know, that pinky-violet shade frequently used on Care Bears and My Little Pony merch). But unlike in New York, the pink party wasn’t just a girl thing—Meier gave his male models the same colors and silhouettes as the women, with some carrying pink bags and even clutches, too.

Natalie Nootenboom On Being The First Plus Size Model To Walk Anna Sui And Championing For Body Positivity

nat-dimmak-285-jpg-1505943117
Earlier this month, 16-year-old Natalie Nootenboom made history when she became the first plus-size model to walk in the Anna Sui show during New York Fashion Week. The 5’11, half Japanese model and niece to DJ Steve Aoki was once bullied for the very traits that have made her a standout in the modeling industry: her long dark hair, full lips, green eyes, and distinct Asian features. But Nootenboom believes her mission is one of empowerment and continuing the body positivity movement that has already helped her feel more represented. “I'm an ambassador for women and for body image,” Nootenboom tells ELLE. “I think that the more plus size models are out there and the more that they are incorporated into...

Instagram user @thestudyofmakeup might just have the most brilliant highlighting skills (all #nofilter) on the internet, and Allure interviewed the woman behind the account for her shining secrets. It all boils down to two things: A denser brush and a highlighter with the same undertones as your skin. "Most people apply their highlight with a large fan brush. I use a very dense wet eyeshadow brush," @thestudyofmakeup...

New York Fashion Week Had The Most Model Diversity Ever

bfa-20845-2618937-1506096834
The results are in, and the New York Fashion Week Spring 2018 shows were the most diverse yet―even without the usual boost from Yeezy. The Fashion Spot has released its annual report, and in a interesting bit of good news, every show featured at least two models of color—meaning that there were no all-white casts, even among the least diverse shows. Out of the 94 New York presentations counted, 36.9 percent of models were women of color, 3.46 percent were plus-size, and 1.19 percent were transgender or non-binary. The shows with the most racially diverse casts included: Brandon Maxwell, Marc Jacobs, and Tom Ford, while those with the most size diversity included Torrid, Prabal Gurung, Christian Siriano, and Chromat. TFS’ report is extensive, and goes further to break...

The tot was apparently filming a scene for Keeping Up with the Kardashians with his parents and four-year-old sister, North West, at a skating rink in Los Angeles. When photos of his new 'do hit the internet, fans couldn't stop gushing.

RIVER ISLAND

Winter is coming and you don't give a damn.

Whether you want to believe it or not, it's almost winter coat time. Which means we all have a great excuse to go shopping and spend some money on being warm. Yay!
And while we've rounded up 100 pretty awesome coats from the high street that you can buy for the new season, we think we've found the one that we ALL need - and it's from River Island.
Introducing: The Sleeping Bag Puffer Coat by Ashish for River Island. The UK retailer is selling a coat that's basically a sleeping bag and I've never been more jealous in my entire life.

The Original ’90s Supermoels Reunited On The Versace Runway Today

hbz-supermodels-versace-embed-1506100745

It's been 20 years since the tragic death of Gianni Versace and to celebrate the late designer's legacy, Donatella Versace hosted a very special Versace show during Milan Fashion Week today.
Along with a Spring 2018 collection paying homage to Gianni's greatest designs, the original '90s supermodels reunited on the runway for the occasion. Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer, Carla Bruni, and Helena Christensen all walked hand-in-hand behind Donatella for an incredible finale down the runway. Each wearing a gold Versace chainmail gown, the surprise reunion made for a truly goosebumps-inducing moment:

When You Need Extreme Comfort, Make This Moussaka

I had just pulled my first draft of moussaka, a creamy comforting Greek casserole, out of the oven and set it down on my station in the test kitchen to cool. The smell of roasted lamb, mint, and oregano drew Chris Morocco, fellow senior food editor, over to my station. He described the moussaka of his dreams from a small mom and pop Greek restaurant in his hometown of Newton, MA, called Farm Grill and Rotisserie. They use potatoes, eggplant, and beef (no tomato). When I told him I was using lamb, eggplant and tomatoes, he game me a little side-eye. But that’s what happens with comfort food from any culture—every person, every town, every grandmother has their own version that they love. The...
