landscape-1487254676-slant-template3

New York Fashion Week has come to a close. But while we have to wait until fall for the clothes, there's nothing stopping us from jumping on the beauty trends. Here are this season's most buzzed about hair and makeup looks.

1 STATEMENT LOWER LASHES
We're said it before and we'll say it again—the lower lashes are the new upper lashes. For proof, look no further than the Jeremy Scott show, where makeup artist Kabuki glued individual, extra-long MAC lashes on the lower lash line. Then, at Tadashi Shoji, Pep Gay for MAC applied loose glitter between each of the lower lashes for a '60s rock 'n' roll feel.

The Spring Piece I Dropped Everything to Buy

-2086101-1487271028.640x0c
Even if it wasn't my job, I'd still stalk Reformation's new arrivals every Monday and Thursday. I hadn't even started to think about what I need for spring, but as I was scrolling through Reformation's new goods, one piece instantly called my name. It was a plaid double-breasted blazer made of linen, and it was called the Valero Jacket. Checked double-breasted blazers have been trending ever since Balenciaga sent them down its F/W 16 runway. The fashion crowd quickly caught on, and they've been everywhere ever since. I've been coveting a checked blazer to wear with jeans and graphic tees, and Reformation's new lightweight black-and-white version definitely fit the bill. I had a hunch that the blazer would be a hot item, so...

This Surprising Shoe style is Taking Over

KITEEN-MAIN-620x492

Let’s get one thing straight; I’ve never met a shoe I didn’t like. Ok, so it might’ve taken Christopher Kane (and a cluster of crystals) to make me a Croc convert but my point still stands: even the most polarising style can be appreciated, if not for its form then for its function, by the most discerning shoe aficionado.

Saying that, I understand some shoes still divide opinion. Dr Martens are by no means for everyone. Neither are corset-laced, knee-high sandals. However, there’s no shoe that’s made headlines of late quite like the kitten heel.

The $5 Skin-Care Product Gigi Hadid Loves

Got a minute? Here’s your mid-day roundup of all your need-to-know news in fashion, beauty, entertainment, and beyond. Teen Vogue compared Bella Hadid’s skin-care routine to Gigi’s, but the real news here is that the latter uses the Internet’s most-hated $5 scrub. [Teen Vogue] Unbeknownst to all of us at STYLECASTER, Katy Perry has a new shoe line that’s available to shop now. [Refinery29] Beauty brand Illamasqua is taking a stand: It’s banning Trump supporters from buying any of its products by making all customers sign Anti-Fascism’ pledge. [Cosmo UK] Robert Pattinson reportedly looks like a totally different person now. [Marie Claire] Racked is asking the very, very hard questions, like: What happened to belly button rings? RIP the ’90s. [Racked] Here’s why you barely even...

Pink Pantsuits: The Feminist Fashion Trend Taking Over Fashion Week

pinkpantsuit
As New York fashion week comes to an end, the most popular trend we’ve seen so far has been the most empowering one yet. Jonathan Simkhai and Prabal Gurung sent down T-shirts emblazoned with a statement quote like “Feminist AF” and “The Future is Female,” while Rebecca Minkoff and Mara Hoffman invited special guests, including singer MILCK and the co-chairs of the Women’s March, to perform at their shows. For a more subtle take, designers have taken the pantsuit, the sartorial symbol of today's feminist movement, and added a feminine twist with a splash of pink. For their debut collection as the new creative directors of Oscar de la Renta, designers Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia crafted a tailored silk suit...

Seeking The Future, Finding Silver For Fall

landscape-1487280113-hbz-silver-comp

While classic, futuristic dystopian novels are all the rage—the brave new world we're currently living in can feel a bit jarring. Who can blame designers, then, for having their eyes firmly planted on the future.
High impact, high shine metallic silver is hitting the runways and while the color is reminiscent of '60s futurism a la Pierre Cardin, the shapes are far more approachable—with a classic trench at Sally LaPointe, a cut-out slinky cocktail dress at Prabal Gurung and a disco worthy louche jumpsuit from Michael Kors. In other words, let's make the future more comfortable again.

What Is Kanye West Trying To Tell Us About Yeezy Season 5 With This Booklet?

Fashion

After Kanye West confirmed that he would indeed be showing Yeezy 5 at New York Fashion Week, fashion editors wondered: What will Kanye West think of next? Well, the invite—an olive green sweatshirt with "Lost Hills" on it, and a booklet of provocative images—just landed on our desks from the House of Yeezy, and we're inclined to believe the photos are some sort of clues.

Sequins Shining Bright for Fall 2017

NEW YORK, NY - FEBRUARY 13: A model walks the runway at Proenza Schouler during New York Fashion Week on February 13, 2017 in New York City. (Photo by Antonio de Moraes Barros Filho/FilmMagic)

While I may not have grown up in the disco era of the ’70s, I certainly want to embrace the sequin trend it so happily gave fashion, and is trending on the runway for fall 2017. We may be months away from shopping the fall season, but if #NYFW fashion week has taught us anything it’s that you cannot sparkle enough. From colorful sequined tunics at Monse layered over trousers to a more edgy and geometric red dress at Proenza, there is no time like the present to start incorporating sequins into your wardrobe.

Take a look as we show you the seven top sequin looks from Fashion Week so far.
