We're not just living life. We're living our best life. We're doing the most. We are–to throw in all the Internet speak–lit. And we're lit AF. In an age where the internet has us communicating in all caps, WTFs, and emojis all of the time, it's not surprising that our clothes have evolved to become just as hyperbolic. If fashion is language and in the world of ELLE, it certainly is–our means of speaking are becoming ever bigger and bolder by the day.
Welcome to MarieClaire.com's new series on weekend travel—a smart girl's guide to making the most of those glorious two days off.
When it starts hitting apple picking season, city dwellers like me begin hanging up their beach daydreams for visions of hills, scenic drives, woodland hikes, and peaceful scenery. A retreat to the mountains and far away from city life is the perfect way to spend a weekend in the fall, and the ideal place to do so is the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts. Below, my recommendations for how to make the most out of your weekend escape there.
Sarah & Sebastian is an Australian jewellery label that was launched back in 2011 by collaborators Sarah Gittoes and Robert Sebastian Grynkofki. Their modern, simplistic jewellery is all hand made to order in Australia, and features unique, minimal designs that are beautifully delicate and of top quality. Our personal favourites include their surreal face designs, made from solid gold and can be found across the range of their products – but to us, the long face earring (pictured below) really stands out as a piece you’d be hard-pressed to find elsewhere. You can find the complete range of their products via the brand’s website or a selected collection over on Net-a-Porter. See our top picks below:
Winifred is baaaaaaack!
Bette Midler paid homage to one of the greatest (and ~spookiest~) movies ever made, Hocus Pocus, at the 2016 Hulaween Party at The Waldorf Astoria on Friday. If this doesn't put you in the Halloween spirit, I don't know what will. BRB, off to watch Hocus Pocus on repeat until November 1st.
Believe it or not, holiday party season is right around the corner, which means it's time to plan your party outfits. Friday and Saturday nights are about to get all booked up with office gatherings, festive dates, dinner parties, and other events involving copious amounts of alcohol and deliciously cheesy food. And, no matter how perfect it is, you can't possibly wear a velvet dress to all of these happenings. Luckily, Michelle Monaghanis here with the easiest party outfit on the planet—and possibly the chicest, too.
